  1. I have a couple of Avocets and honestly can't see why I'd spend more money on a reel. One is brand new, the other I've had for I'm not even sure how long, but several years and as abused as it is still works like the first day I bought it. The new one looks SWEET though.
  2. I had the same problem with Vanish when I first started using it. Turns out I was using the wrong knot. I was also using the improved clinch. Try the San Diego Jam. Since I've switched to that knot I've had zero problems. And use Vanish quite a bit.
  3. That knot is the SanDiego Jam.
  4. I don't think they carry a MH-Mod, I know they carry a 7'M composite cranking rod. I own one of every casting rod that they offer and don't have a "mythical" MH-Mod. lol At least I haven't seen one in store or on the site.
  5. I love the 2 that I have, I think you will too.
  6. Free shipping does not work on the rods right now, it has in the past but, not in this case.
  7. Totally off topic, but every cop wants to give Dale Jr. a ticket even for 1 over. lol
  8. I"m also curious, they seem to me like the old Laser Lure that fell of the map a few years back.
  9. I also got that email, the first thing I noticed was the pattern of the bigger bait pictured. I thought I can do that. lol Should be pretty a pretty neat bait to check out especially if the Storm pricing holds true.
  10. 7'6" Ethos XH, 30lb Spider Wire Stealth 3/8-1 1/2oz tungsten weight
  11. Definitely invest in a lure retrieve. I got a cheap one at Academy for like $6, paid for it's self the first outing. Also if there is anyway you know which way the lay down is laying that will help a lot with snags. If you can crank up the tree (stump to top) this will help tons because that is the natural flow of the limbs. You'll also catch more fish because odds are those fish don't see too many cranks down in the bushes.
  12. Welcome from the Edmond/Guthrie area!
  13. I've been painting for about a month now, with just basic patterns with stripes from a comb and scales from a shower loufa. How are you guys making your stencils? I bought some stencil making material, but am wondering how you guys actually cut them and decide on shapes and patterns. Thanks
  14. I'd fish them! The first one especially.
  15. I tend to agree with going the braid route, the line diameter at that strength is like sewing thread. If that doesn't get it all the way to where you need it add in long lining and you should hit the mark easily.
  16. double SanDiego Jam
  17. Caught about a 2lb bull frog the other day on a hollow body frog. Almost caught a Kingfisher on a sammy, he flew away with it luckily didn't get hooked and dropped it.
  18. 7'6" MH Ethos has become a go to for me when it comes to flipping/pitching/c-rig.
  19. I don't have much experience doing this, but have used the VMC Ike approved weedless wacky hooks and had great success.
  20. I have been using 5 minute Gorilla Glue since that is all I have available in the stores locally. It works great, but the down side is it sets so quickly that I can really only get one bait coated out of a a batch or epoxy, but I get about 10-12 baits per tube. It may cure a bit thicker than I'd like, but then I don't have to use a second coat, plus it basically makes a bait bullet proof.
  21. Own 2 Menace, the old and the new. Really a fan of them both. Super smooth and talk about casting distance! You might check out the new Mystic too I have a couple of them as well and they are SWEET!
  22. H2O Xpress Ethos, anywhere there is an Academy store you can replace a broken rod no questions asked. Heck doesn't even need to be broken, just got it and don't like it take it back, no questions asked. I broke 2 of their rods, totally my fault, set the hook high and hard right into a branch. SNAP! Then fell on the other one. They took them back, Plus it's one helluva rod for $60-$80.
  23. This year I've been catching fish on the H2O Xpress frog, their new version looks basically identical to the SPRO or KVD. Been catching most of my fish on the all black body with black/blue legs, and the rest on the black/gray belley.
