  1. I just don’t wanna be ripping the hooks out. I know people will try to use a stretchier line to prevent that when they don’t have a cranking rod. He said it worked fine for him so I’m not going to. All good ?
  2. Did you have to use a really stretchy line? Do you think I can get away with just using fluorocarbon?
  3. I have two fuego reels and I like em. Thanks for the reply. I figured out what I’m gonna do.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I should’ve researched a little more before I posted. I’ve learned that if you don’t have a cranking rod using mono is best and I just don’t wanna do that. I don’t have a ton of rods so I like using fluorocarbon as I use that for more things than mono. So I think if I really wanna get into throwing than I’ll probably just get a cranking rod.
  5. I’d like to see if anybody that owns this rod has used it for crankbaits. I’d be doing shallow water cranking (around 5 feet of water) I have this rod and would like to throw Strike King KVD 1.5s on it but not sure if it would work well (like if I would just be ripping the trebles right out of their mouths) Any input is appreciated!
  6. Thank you very much. It is absolute okay, that is the reason why I started a topic to find answers because all I could find was answers to people trying to save their line. I use my line on baitcasting reels until I don’t have enough to make cast so I like to put the least amount of backing possible. I am just worried that I didn’t put enough on my reel.
  7. 1/2 the spool? I think you might have read my question wrong as I am not trying to save line. I just simply want to put the least amount of backing that I can without the braid slipping. I don’t think I need to fill 1/2 my spool. I have heard 30 feet is enough. Does this sound correct?
  8. I have searched this up but was only able to find people trying to calculate how much backing to mainline. I’d like to spool as much braid on my spool as possible and am wondering how much mono backing is needed to prevent slipping. Is just one layer enough?
  9. I got a spool of sniper too to spool on my finesse jig rod and the 15# abrazx to spool on my rod for big t rigs
  10. maybe you just got a bad spool? What weight t rigs and jigs were you using with 12lb test?
  11. Me too! So I’m assuming you like Florocarbon for other purposes? Have you tried seagaur abrazx, how do ya like it?
  12. Hello everybody! I’d like to hear your opinions on Seagaur Abrazx as a mainline for jigs/t rigs.
  13. Hello again, I’m gonna be using dobyns rods which usually run a little bit more moderate fast action even though they are labeled fast and I will be using them for jigs so as a personal preference I’d like to not have a super stretchy line (which is why I was gonna get braid) so I read up on it and picked some seagaur abrazx. So I wanted to ask if y’all have any experience with this line and if it’s been good for you?
  14. Thank you for all the tips. I think I might just spool them up with fluro, like I have been doing, that way I won’t have to worry about dig ins and drag. I will keep the 30lb braid on my Topwater rod and just keep the loose drag and use my thumb to stop the spool like you said.
  15. I’m sorry I did not word that very well. I have to set my drag extremely loose on my 30lb braid. I would like to be able to set it tighter and not worry about dig ins on this reel (not really lock it down ) sorry
  16. Hello, I would like to put 40lb braid and use fluro leaders on my finesse jig rod but I would also like to lock my drag down very tight so it does not slip on hooksets. I have a reel with 30lb braid ( .012 diameter) and I have to keep the drag very loose to prevent dig in. If I put 40 lb braid (.013) on this reel will I be able to lock my drag down all the way (as the 40lb is in very similar diameter to the 30lb, so I am worried I will experience similar dig in results) I have considered putting 50lb on it so I don’t have to worry but I believe that will kill the action of my tiny 1/4oz jigs.
  17. Thank you all for sharing. I was originally planning on getting the diawa fuego but the place I was getting them from were sold out so that’s why I asked about the Tatula and the SLX XT, but the Fuegos just got back in stock so I ordered two diawa Fuegos (both 7:3:1) ? Once again thanks for all the help
  18. Manifestgtr, I have also heard that but I tie my leaders so when I reel my bait all the way to the top of my rod the leader knot is as close to the spool I can but where it’s still out of my spool so I do not believe it will be a problem. I will be using 50lb braid on these with 12-15 pound fluro leaders. Oops Im gonna send that again as I didn’t quote what you said ( sorry Im new to this site so I have just now figured that out) I do not reel my leader knots up into my spool so I don’t think that should be a problem. As for my setup, I will use 50lb braid on em with 12-15 lb fluro leaders as I fish mostly clear water.
  19. I think I am leaning towards the two tatulas as my brother has one and he loves it+ garroyo103 mentioned that he feels comfortable casting 1/4oz baits. I also emailed Gary Dobyns and asked him what rod would be best with my jigs and he recommended the 733 and said he had a guy come into his shop looking for a casting rod that could cast a weightless trickworm the farthest and the 733 won. So my thinking is that if it can do that, I think these two paired together should be able to sling my jigs plenty far.
  20. LCG, May I ask, why aren’t you a fan of the T-Wing? Have you had bad experiences with it?
  21. Good info, thank you. I plan to pair one reel on a heavy rated rod but it fishes more like mh IMO (Dobyns Champion 734 ) so I’m not so worried about casting lighter baits on that specific rod. But I am also purchasing a 733 and will be using it as a lightweight jig rod (Strike King Bitsy Jigs in 1/4oz) so that’s the rod id like to pair the reel that is best at casting lighter baits with.
  22. I am purchasing two reels and plan on getting a Diawa Tatula CT for one of them. I’m deciding between either getting two Tatulas, or getting one Tatula and an SLX XT. Which option would you go for? Also, is one or the other better at casting lighter baits? I’m curious to hear from someone who has both or anybody with an opinion.
