  1. I think that these rods are excellent! I have a 6'6 MH bait cast, 6'6 med spinning, and a 6'8 ML spinning rod. I love all 3 and honestly can't tell the difference between them and a st croix premier which is more money.
  2. I am a big fan of InvisX so this is not a negative comment, but I would not use InvisX on spinning personnally. I'd go with RoadWarrior's favorite Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft on Spinning. Line conditioner aside I think you'd see more benefits on spinning with the Yozuri. B I have the ultra soft and like the product. I also have had great experiences with the P-line CX, that to me is the best out of the 3. I used the invizx because I had just enough left to spool one reel and figured I would use it during the early season.
  3. I am finding this topic to be extremely informative! I just spooled #8 Seagar invizx on one of my spinning set ups last night, which was a first considering I am primarily a braid w/ flouro leader guy. After taking a few practice casts in the yard I seem to be getting small line twists despite spooling the line properly, from the what I have read here it seems that the line conditioner will help resolve this...or am I wrong? I was thinking of going out in the yard and stripping the line down the the backing then reeling it back up through a soaked cloth or can I just apply the conditioner directly to the line on the spool? Last but not least does Dicks carry the KVD conditioner? Thanks for the help!
  4. Take the advice of an earlier post and save yourself the aggravation and time of spooling your reels with Flouro. Use your Braid and tie a 3 to 4 foot leader of flouro with a joining blood knot. I have wasted so much money on flouro that I am sick of trying to make it work, it creates nothing but hassles and headaches for me. I even posted a problem with yo-zuri ultra soft #6 recently, I had BPS send me another spool of line because I was able to break the line on the first spool with my hands. After re spooling my rods with the second batch I went fishing only to have the line snap from the weight of a rattle trap in mid cast! It took me a while however, i finally learned my lesson!
  5. They are best rigged wacky style and if you fish them very fast almost like a spinner bait!! ;D You guys said you wanted to keep this bait a secret right??? I crack myself up.....
  6. I always fish it backward because I feel you get better action with the tenticles. I have caught a ton of fish after I have lifted the bait or started reeling it back to the boat. The one thing I will say with the ika is be patient, I have caught fish when I have least expected them to strike.
  7. Every time I go fishing I bring my big tackle bag/box which is almost like mini BBS, and then once I get in the boat I end of fishing an ika/senko all day!! An old timer once told me that I was crazy for having so many lures/baits he said that he can fill a coffee can with a few productive lures and have great success with out spending a fortune on every bait ever invented. I couldn't agree with him more however, what the heck else am I supposed to do to pass the time from the end of bow season until April 1st when the local reservoirs open??? :-/
  8. In addition to muddy or murky water, I also prefer using Colorado Blades in cold water during the early spring and late fall because with a slow retrieve they will still produce great vibrations and you can "slow roll" them better than willow leaf blades which are ideal for burning through grass and over and around structure. I would also pick up a few painted blades from BBS or Cabella's in addition to the classic brass plated ones. These painted blades are good for fishing on cloudy days when there is not enough light to reflect off the brass.
  9. Jigs (black and Blue) and Ika's!!!!
  10. I second that!!!!
  11. yes I wet the line before tying the knot...like I said I can pull it between my hands and it will snap. I did run the line through a rag with silicone on it when I was spooling my reels, would that weaken the line (i think I am losing my mind)?? Also, I read on Yo-zuri's website that #6 has the strength of 11.9lb test....is this true or did I buy 6lb test line?? This whole thing has me very puzzled/frustrated since April 1st is this weekend!!! Cabela's is sending me another 600 yards of the #6 at no cost (they are great to do business with), hopefully it was just a bad batch of line.
  12. I bought the line through the mail with cabella's, I am going to call them today to see if they will take it back. Thanks, I hope it is just a bad batch.
  13. I have been reading the dialog pertaining to the yo-zuri ultra soft line and decided to string my spinning rods with the #6 (11.9lb test strength) like people have been recommending. After stringing my rods I tried tying on a hard jerk bait and the line snapped right before the knot. This happened 3 times in a row until I finally decided I would wrap the line around my hand and pull. To my amazement the line snaped with only 1/2 of my strength and the line was not even strong enough to hurt my hands. I stripped 2 feet of line off the reel and tried again and the same thing happened. Is this common?? If so how does anyone fish with this line?? Although it is stronger than Berkley vanish I still can see how I am going to use this line unless I am fishing for gold fish out of a Chinese restaurants fish tank??
  14. I got my bait stuck once and after giving it a real hard jerk I reeled back an opened clip with no lure....I tie directly to the line as well.
  15. I always tie on a 2 to 3 foot 25lb flouro leader when fishing slow moving baits with braid, so this way I do not have to worry about visibility. Seagar carbon pro is by far the best for this applicaton, it is strong and very abrasion resistant.
  16. Without a doubt black and blue is my favorite color. With that being said i am curious as to why that color is so productive...honestly I could never figure it out. I thought that more natural colors would be the best? I know people say that in clear water the natural colors will out catch the darker ones, however I still seem to do better with the darn black and blue no matter what water clarity I am fishing. Does anyone have an answer as to why black and blue is such a popular color? :-/
  17. I was so upset when I saw the IKA on the cover that I almost cried!! I really hope people think it is just some ordinary tube bait!! I know the article mentioned that the swivel design is weedless however, I have a feeling that the swivel will pick up weeds and other goop. I love the upside down IKA rig with just a #4 wide gap Gamo hook, it is totally weedless and you can really get some mileage out of one ika...it is amazing how you can use one effectively even though it is pretty well torn up!
  18. I use power pro and have no complaints. I have had problems with stren super braid knotting up while using jerk baits...not sure if the problem was due because of the line and would be curious to know if anyone else has had problems like this.
  19. i like the zoom finesse worm as well however, I just picked up a few of the new Berkley shaky tail worms and was wondering if anyone has used them and if so what they thought of them?
  20. Not much you can add after those responses!!! I use the BPS 1/2 ounce Enticer jigs in Black and Blue, they are cheaper than most (if you don't get your jig stuck then you are not fishing it properly) and produce just the same for me. Also you might want to trim the skirt back from your trailer just a tad in order to enhance your presentation. Do yourself a favor and stick with the jig, as someone mentioned earlier it probably is the best "big fish" bait....IMO. Good Luck
  21. Good Stuff!! Too bads you can't run H-toads over ice otherwise I would be out right now!! ;D
  22. This is great, I have been holding off placing an order until I knew they were reputable!!! They seem to have a much better selection and prices than BPS plus I love how you can see each bait in each color!!! I am totally trying to justify the large amount of money I am about to spend..... :-/
  23. This is a great point and very true. I have great luck with the H-Toad in pads however, it is important to remember to pause before setting the hook in order to let the fish swallow the bait. Has anyone had luck fishing a white toad?? I have read that this are supposed to be better in sunny conditions....needless to say I bought a pack.....why not right!!
