  1. I have had very good success with the little spider grubs and the swim baits.
  2. Great bait! I rig mine texas style with the hook point resting flat on the top of the toad. I know many people use the Horny Toad special hook or a screw in hook, however I have found the Gammy Skip Gap hook to work the best. It keeps the hook eye buried in the body of the toad very well. When you get a blow up count in your head "one thousand" then let the fish have it! If you don't wait then you will most likely pull the toad away from the fish....oh one other thing make sure your drag is locked!!!
  3. we know all about the other tourney. Our Launch is at 6am, we are hoping to get on the water early to avoid the congestion. Good luck this weekend!
  4. I saw two pros on tv using these the other night. They were talking about how the coffee scent attracts fish. I was wondering if they contain any caffeine, if they do anglers can chew on them throughout the day to get a boost!
  5. I figured the water would be really muddy! My club is launching out of Ti on Saturday and Sunday!
  6. I am going to be heading up to Lake Champlain (Ticonderoga) to fish Friday through Sunday. I was wondering if any one can give me a heads up as to what conditions to expect? Thanks for the input, needless to say I am very excited for the trip....Friday can't come fast enough!!!
  7. Darker Colors in darker water or low light otherwise you will not go wrong throwing soft baits in watermelon green or green pumpkin color shades. Personally I think all of the color selections are designed to catch fisherman not fish.
  8. Great feedback thanks guys!!
  9. RR, I agree 100% what I meant was a practice day prior to the tourney, in order to try and gain confidence. I plan on getting out on the water a few times before I go up. I have used the Swim Senko a few times with success, once ironically on Lake Champlain. I use a small bullet weight to get it down, and normally get bit when it ticks off grass.
  10. I am slightly embarrassed to admit that despite its popularity the one bait that I struggle with is the soft body swim bait. The main reason for this is simply because I lack the confidence in the bait, I often will dedicate a full day to throwing the lure however, I get frustrated after a few minutes and result to turning to what I have confidence in. I am using a Luck E Strike Bass Magic 4.5 inch black diamond swim bait with an weighted wide gap hook. I will be fishing in a tourney on Lake Champlain in two weeks and would like to go up there with a decent swim bait to use or at least try on a practice day. Any feedback as far as make and color would be appreciated, like I said it is the one lure that I do not feel confident in for one reason or another hence why I am reaching out for advice.
  11. Great feedback thanks. I have heard they are made from Carrots which has always made me chuckle. I will try and check these out soon so I can see what all of the hype is about. I am a big fan of College lacrosse, these rods are perfect for Syracuse fans ;D!!!!
  12. Our of curiosity what makes these rods so attractive? I have seen a few being used by people (kind of hard to miss) but have yet to read up or look into the hype.
  13. I have had problems with wind knots when using power pro, suffix to me is the best!
  14. Thanks guys, I agree about the low viz green I have it in both the cx and the yo zuri.
  15. I was wondering what peoples opinions are pertaining to the visibility or lack of when comparing hybrid type lines like Yo-zuri or P-line CX to straight Flouro? When comparing the 2 lines it seems like the hybrids are much more visible under the water? Am I looking into this too much or do I have a valid concern when fishing water where visibility becomes a factor?
