  1. Very true. I also have the ML spinning, and it does feel like ML.
  2. Absolutely agree. I also have the ML spinning premier. And it actually “feels” like a ML.
  3. I recently purchased a St. Croix Premier medium power fast action rod with the intention of using it as a general jerk bait, crank bait, and top water rod. Took it out to give it a whirl, and to my surprise it felt more like a MHF. I also have some Mojo Bass rods that feel great as far as their ratings. Anyone have any suggestions, experience, answers, etc?
  4. I’ve got a scorpion bfs with an ultra rod for “true” bfs lures with 6# fluoro, and a curado bfs with a medium light rod for bass finesse. 8# fluoro on that. In MY experience I’ve always had better performance from the fluorocarbon lines. My question is, do you guys use leaders on your braids, if not, have you noticed any decrease in bites?
  5. I use the max steel for true bfs and my ml for the rest.
  6. Yes sir. I’m heading that way myself. I still use my spinning set up every now and then, but bait casters are way more efficient.
  7. Have you replaced your spinning set up entirely with this combo?
  8. Good afternoon. I purchased a curado bfs with the intention for using as a true bfs reel. I came across a medium light casting rod on eBay for a good price, figured I’d try it. Needless to say it sucked for true bfs lures (unlike my Max Steel paired with the scorpion bfs). But it is phenomenal for Neds, drop shots, anything I would use my spinning set up for, and then some, and with greater distance. The action is also perfect for jerk baits and 1.0 and 1.0 square bills. Has anyone else had any experience with medium light casting rods? I’m curious to know.
  9. I’m not an expert by any means, but you shouldn’t have a problem throwing flukes on a bait caster. I use my Shimano Chronarch G on a Shimano cruado 7’10” medium heavy rod. no problem. I typically go with 12 or 15 pound flouro.
  10. Second that.
  11. In my experience and after much experimenting, I’ve found I get much longer cats with a casting outfit. Just my experience.
  12. I thought about getting this rod. Just not sure if want a shorter or longer rod.

  14. I want to get into bfs fishing. I’ve got my eye on the Shimano Aldebaran or Scorpion. What I’m not sure about is the rod length, power, and action. I really like the fast action of my spinning rods for finesse techniques and my bait caster for bottom baits. But also love the moderate action of my casting rod for cranks and jerk baits. I need something that will do tiny cranks and small jigs well. It will be my all around bfs set up. Btw, I fish ponds and small lakes most of the time. I’m open to suggestions on bfs reels as well. Thanks in advance.
  15. It is a crank bait rod. ?
