Ok, so @thediscochef supplied the impetus for me to get up and hit the water early. 89° when I hit the water at 6:45 and 97° when I got out at 11:00. Forecasted high today is 107°. Ugh. I just fished the local pond as I figured full sun and little shade at the lake and I’d be done by 9:00 lol. Caught three and missed two. Only took soft plastics as the water is down 2’ and too much algae for treble baits. Caught the first one early on a weightless Neko Macho. The second (and biggest) was on a TR with a Rage Tail Craw. The last one was in a weightless Zoom Mag 2. It was gut-hooked, so I got the hook out and put it back in the water w/out pics. About 1.5 lbs. I haven’t used my Daiwa Aird-X MF and the Garcia Black Max in a while, but I spooled new line on it yesterday and wanted to give it a go. I realize it’s an inexpensive baitcasting reel that is not in the same class as my Fuegos and Tatula. But…that reel casts like a dream. I almost cast a 5” Senko completely across the pond. It’s a bit geary (not bad) and the drag does not have a click adjustment, but it fished pretty darn well for $49.99!

I’d dance a jig for a high of 93° lol.

103° today and a high of 105° tomorrow. Had to drop my wife off at the airport this morning so tomorrow morning is do or die. I feel it may be die lol. I just respooled a Black Max with 10 lb. Big Game and tied on a Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG and want to fish, but weeks on end of this insane heat is making it hard to pull the trigger on getting the boat in the water. I need encouragement! Or therapy! ?

I forgot. I bought a new gas grill (like 20 years ago) and put the ol’ rusty Char-Broil on the curb with a “Free to Good Home” sign on it. Three hours. No takers. Swapped the sign to one that said “$5.00 or best offer”. It was “stolen” in 5 minutes! ?

We just (a few weeks ago) bought a bigger cat tree. Did the same. Posted it free. Put it on the curb. Washed my hands. Gone!

I’ll take a quality start for six innings any day of the week. So far, it’s working!

Bautista was back to his dominant self. Orioles starters getting it done again. Although what a waste of a complete game shut-out by Kirby. I feel for the guy.

@MN Fisher I’m 100% in your camp. While I will normally bring 4 or 5 rods, there are many times I will only bring two- a MH/F baitcaster and a M/F spinning rig. I can’t fish every bait with just those two, but I can fish a lot.

OMG, I fish a lot of weightless soft plastics. Senkos, Zoom Tricks, Fat IKA’s, Neko Machos, Zoom Mag 2’s amongst others.

I have two. A MH/F and a M/F. As stated, not “top of the line”. But at that price, they are pretty good rods.

I see differences between a 7’0” and a 7’6”. I don’t really see that much of a difference in 2”.

I haven’t been fishing the past few weeks as it’s been just too darned hot. It was this morning as well, but I went anyway. The pond has dropped over a foot since I last fished as we’ve gotten no rain and temps in the 100°s (it’s exactly 100° right now- feels like 108°). Was a pain to launch the boat. Fished until 1100 and caught three bass. One dink on a blue/black laminate Senko WR (no pic lol), one on an X Zone Adrenaline Craw in Summer Craw and the last on a #956 Senko TR that got smashed reeling it back to the boat.

That WO to right by Santander was a moonshot!

I wish. I’ve done conference calls working a Texas rig. On my day off.

I thought I heard NECCO went out of business. They did. In 2018. Another company (Spangler) is now making them. As of 2020. Watch out, boys! I got three years of catching up to do!

@Mobasser We put Zero Bars in the freezer. Great summertime snack! @Catt I used to munch on NECCO Wafers up until they stopped making them. Old-timey wax paper wrapper. I segregated then by color/flavor and ate them in order of least to best-liked flavors. Always ended with black/licorice or orange/orange. Still keep a bag of these on hand in my candy jar at work

I found out the roof should be closed. I’m seriously considering going to a game. I’ve never seen my home team in another ballpark. It’s about time!
