  1. Three AL East ballclubs in the post-season. Only one remains. Tampa crapped the bed in the Trop and the Twins took it to Toronto. Always like the Twins. Had some good years decades ago when I was young and during the Kirby Puckett era. Twins-Astros. Rangers-Astros. Going to be a good ALDS.
  2. @WRB Tom, thank you for mentioning the Lefty Kreh knot. I’ve brought it up many times, but let’s face it- I’m not WRB ? Hopefully your mention of it will convince some to try it. It’s got to be the easiest leader knot to tie. It takes about 30 seconds from start to finish. It’s brutally strong (I’ve only had one fail and it’s my fault as I twisted the line and should have retied). I’ve had some leaders that are a year old and still serviceable. It’s also relatively small and I’ve had no problems casting it through guides or having it spooled into the reel. I’ll never use anything else.
  3. The Baltimore Orioles, with their first 100-win season since 1980, have clinched the AL East Division! Have a shot at 102 to end the season! Glenn, my sympathies. I was hoping the Mariners made the post-season as well. Go O’s!!!!!
  4. O’s upcoming four-game series with the Rays starting tomorrow is likely to decide the AL East champion. If both win today the Orioles will have a three-game lead heading into tomorrow’s opener.
  5. Oh my. A weightless Zoom Trick TR on a spinning rig is one of my go-to’s. A Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG and a Zoom Trick catches bass. Too many colors that work to list. I’ll twitch it. Drag it slow on the bottom. Swim it. Pull it over sunken wood. Let it drift with the boat. I caught my 2nd biggest bass (over 5 lbs) on a weightless Zoom Trick while fishing off the bank. Just let it sink and turned the reel handle slowly two cranks every ten seconds. Hit it like a freight train.
  6. …on a frog; dropshot, Carolina rig.
  7. Love that pic! ”Who happened to Mr. Boh’s other eye?” ”Gunther’s got it!”
  8. Good start to the 2023 NFL season. Ballsy move by the Lions on that fake punt. And KC really looked lackluster without Kelce.
  9. Astros (esp. Altuve) are on a roll. Just took over sole possession of first place in the AL West (sorry Glenn). As an O’s fan, the ‘Stros are the one team I’d prefer to steer clear of until the ALCS. They are a proven ballclub and are getting hot when it counts.
  10. The Shelter in Mt. Pleasant is a great place to dine. Best fried shrimp I’ve ever had. Page’s Okra Grill is great for lunch and the Bloody Marys are awesome.
  11. The best are unfrosted cinnamon, toasted, and melt some butter on top.
  12. “Man! I think these bass are staring at me” They must know I’m stoned! Stop staring! Holy crap, they’re gonna rat me out! What if I hook one and it asks me to let it go? How did I get in this boat? What lake is this? Why is that bass STARING at me???
  13. @WRB @Big Swimbait I agree on the Lefty Kreh knot. It’s all I use. It’s extremely simple to tie, it’s strong, it’s relatively small…and it’s extremely easy to tie! I think the thing that many anglers react to is that you have to pre-cut the length of the leader first and after making the loop, you have to pull 6’-8’ of leader through the loop before tightening the leader and main line. But that takes seconds. I can tie that entire know from start to finish in 30 seconds.
  14. Pint bottle. Paper bag. Cigar stub on a toothpick. You’re good to go!
  15. Times have changed. Men of my generation didn’t attend showers, but were likely the first to change diapers, bathe children, etc. Now showers are attended by both sexes. In 50 years men will likely have showers and the womenfolk will stay home lol.
  16. Mariners are playing some good ball right now. Rangers are ? the bed and the Astros have made up for their slow start. It’s a tight race in the AL West!
  17. Normally I’d ? at that. But not today! Hopefully it’s not serious. All I know is that they wasted zero time in taking him out of the game with two strikes and two outs. No warm-up pitch. Just out.
  18. Speaking of Coloumbe, he gets a one pitch, one strike save. Sounds like a reason to jump and down and shout “Yay!” But he came in due to Bautista exiting with an unknown injury that appeared to possibly be his knee or hip, but Hyde said it’s arm discomfort. That last pitch was very awkward. I hope Felix is ok. However, what a nice come from behind win. Rays lose. Jays lose. Red Sox lose. Yankees won (beat the Rays lol). Nice, but overshadowed by what’s going on with Bautista.
  19. I’m contemplating tomorrow. It’s 104° now and high Saturday is 103°. Have to fish somewhere else that’s not as low. With shaded banks!
  20. All flats. Either mango habanero or Old Bay and Honey, or simply dusted with Old Bay. The local bar and grill makes good mango habenero wings, but I normally bring a can of Old Bay and/or a jar of honey and order them plain and make them myself.
  21. The only baits I fish as a weightless TR on baitcasters are “heavy” soft plastics. Senkos. Fat IKA’s. Neko Machos. Mostly on a M/F rod. In fact, I just respooled a Black Max a few days ago with 10 lb. Big Game on a 6’ 6” Daiwa Aird-X M/F rod, and with a 5” Senko on a 4/0 EWG, I almost casted it all the way across the pond. Light baits like Zoom Tricks, Roboworms, etc. I’ll fish with a spinning rig. But I do like fishing those heavier baits with a baitcaster. I can cast more accurately.
  22. Fishing is fishing and beer is beer and never the twain shall meet. Or, if you prefer, fishing is fishing and beer is beer and an elephant never forgets, that’s Boulder’s rule (points if you can recall that lol). I love beer (having a St. Arnold Art Car as we speak, err, type. But I do not like to drink beer while fishing. Water only.
  23. The bigger one was 3 lbs. It smashed that Rage Tail Craw. I’ve been using that bait in green pumpkin a lot on a Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG and a 3/16 oz. tungsten bullet weight. I rarely caught fish on craws. It’s becoming a confidence bait!
