  1. I have a 7ft MH Spinning model, bought it with a 4000 Symetre 14 yrs ago..this rod has caught everything from Bluegills and Bass to Black Drum and Small Sharks! Not my lightest rod but probably my toughest.
  2. I have one, use it for inshore..so far it is a working good. Only time will tell about its longevity
  3. Rods for under 150$(+/-)? Star Stellar Light Spinning $99,followed by TFO Gary Tactical Bass Dropshot $150, and the Hurricane Redbone $99 Reels for under 150$(+/-)? Penn Battle and Battle II series 2000-4000 $99 Rods for 200-330$(+/-)? None, Have a Loomis Greenwater...broken once, replaced through expiditor service..replacement had cork come loose, and replaced under warranty. Sits on rod rack now...overrated Reels for 200-330$(+/-)? None Rods for 350$+? None Reels for 350$+? None
  4. My nephew has a few Powell's, he brought a Diesel spinning with him last summer and I reeled in a 20" Flounder with no probems, We were using way more weight than the blank lists and no problems.
  5. Penn Battle 8000 with an Ugly Stick Tiger Lite Jigging rod or Penn Jigging rod . I have 5 Battles, awesome reels for around $100
  6. I have this reel in a 2500 series. I used it last fall for inshore fishing with 15 pound braid. Made short work of some nice sized black sea bass.
  7. They have the Plueger body by my observation. The Fierce is a great reel, for.the money I have the 4000 series. The Battle 3000 is even better. I curently own 3 differnent Battles. My oldest reel is a Symetre 4000 that is 12 yrs old., but it has a metal body not the graphite/plastic stuff
  8. I own 3 of them. one 3000, a 4000,and a 6000. Awesome reels. Getting ready to buy another 4000
  9. I have both the Battle and the Lexa. IMO the Battle is a better reel. However,it is an inshore saltwater reel, which is where I do most of my fishing.
  10. That is about what I paid for my Penn Battle handle, which is nothing more than a Saltwater version of the Pfluegers. Very fast shipping, had it in about three days.
  11. Got a new Penn SV 3500, two Star Stellar Lite fast taper rods. Bought a little Quantum Accurist Spinning reel marked down from $79.99 to $49.99 at Dick's Sporting Goods. Just need to heal from this rotator cuff surgery to be able to use them. Hurry up June!!
  12. Yep, my wife loves to fish. Also helps load and unload a 19 ft center console. She can hold her own at any boat ramp. I have seen jaws drop at the Wrightsville Beach boat ramp as she has shown more than one so called "hard core boater" up while backing the trailer down and pulling our boat out of water.
  13. My wife bought me a new Penn Spinfisher V 3500 SV for my birthday on the 23rd, a Star Stellar Lite Fast taper rod for Chrismtas, got a new sterero form my mother-in-law nand my sister-in-law, and a $50 gift card, in which I bought another Star Stellar Lite fast taper rod.
  14. I have a 7' MH Clarus spinning rod, it is now 10 yrs old and it's still my favorite rod. I gave it a new reel this yr, found a Shimano Spheros 4000fa at a local tackle shop for $49. This rod is tough, it has caught everything from Bass to Black Drum and small Sharks. Every time I think of upgrading it, I find an excuse not to. I also have a 6'6" ML casting Compre, however it does not get used that much. I am not big on casting equipment.
  15. BPS has them online.
