  1. Hey Born 2 Fish, about an hour after my last post complaining, I got an email from Bass Pro that my boat shipped. Hopefully yours is about to ship also, and maybe the Cabelas guys also, I hope.
  2. I can't keep track of who bought where, but I ordered from Bass Pro, and my latest date range is June 16-26. Since Cabela's and Bass Pro are owned by the same company now, I am guessing we are all in the same boat (no pun intended). This is crazy. I ordered it May 3rd. Their emails say the order will be canceled after 60 days, but they told me on the phone they won't cancel it. If they do, I'll be ticked, because then I will have to reorder and be at the back of the line again.
  3. Mine was just updated to 6/10 - 6/20
  4. Mine is on backorder from Bass Pro. They keep pushing the date out. Ordered May 3, then was told they are waiting for a shipment, and was supposed to get it late May. Then pushed back at least two more times, now supposedly mid-June. My wife called the manufacturer directly to see if she could figure out what is going on. All they did was confirm that they will still be produced, but because of the COVID situation they are way behind. I'm guessing I won't get it until late in summer...missed prime fishing time!
  5. thanks everyone. i have not been able to find a new bulldog, and I'd rather not buy somebody else's used one. Being new to this boating thing, I'd rather have a warranty I can fall back on if I have a problem, at least until I can figure everything out. WRB, i like the plywood and velcro idea, I think I'll try that. But what's the difference between Marine ply and any other?
  6. Also, I'm putting this up for a vote, because I'm struggling on a decision. If I DO go with a foot control, do you prefer: 1. Motor Guide Bulldog 2. A Bigfoot switch 3. Troll King from Canyon Lake
  7. My budget is about 400. i am on the Pelican thread. but haven't gotten through the whole thing. I'm really torn on trolling motors. I like the idea of a foot control, but I also am trying to get by without adding a wood floor to my boat (if it ever arrives) to save on some weight. With a plastic boat like that, and without a wood floor to mount to, I don't know if it I will be able to keep the foot control from sliding around. I only get one shot at a decision, because I ain't gonna buy a TM twice!
  8. For those of you that have either a Bigfoot switch, or a foot controlled trolling motor, are they feasible without a wood floor to mount to? What if I had one of those thick rubber exercise mats as a floor. Could it just rest on that without moving around too much?
  9. The Pelican boat allows for bow mounting and has electric at both the bow and stern. Sounds like most people add a plywood floor and mount the foot control to the plywood. I am just not sure what model TM would be best.
  10. I just bought a 10-ft Pelican Bass Raider but its not yet delivered. Initially my thought was to buy a Minn Kota EnduraMax, something between 40 and 55 pound thrust, but am now considering some sort of foot controlled TM. I'm not sure what is available...looking for suggestions...please include price range if you know that information. Thanks,
  11. Who has ever heard of a thread lasting 10 years? This thread has the greatest info ever. OK, I need advice. I am considering making my own rudder, using the shaft of an old trolling motor, as someone else suggested a few years back on this thread. If I do that, what are your opinions about the minimum size of the rudder?
  12. I ordered it from Bass Pro. It's delayed though.
  13. One other question. My boat is on order, and I have not received it. I still need to buy a trolling motor...should I get a 36 inch or 42 inch shaft?
  14. I guess I could do concrete, but was looking for something cheaper and not so invasive. As for the plywood, wouldn't that be too rigid? Seems it would tilt back and forth on the rocks too much? What I really thought would work is the type of material used in say, plastic car floor mats, but I can't imagine how you come up with a sheet of material like that which is large enough for this purpose.
  15. My 10 acre lake has large-chunk rip-rap all around it. I am trying to figure out a way to launch the bass raider 10E without damaging the bottom of the boat. Does anyone have a solution with some sort of matting or something to place over the rocks? I will be launching from my own property, so I don't have to worry about transporting the matting, or whatever the solution is. Thanks.
