  1. None of those ponds, actually. The pond with the bowfin is north of the ponds marked 1 2 and 3, and is bigger than any of them
  2. I have better luck at Halle Park for bass than pretty much anywhere else around here, but that's just me. I usually catch at least 2-3 while I go in the morning for a couple of hours. Lots of decent sized bass in there. You just have to be patient which is hard with kids sometimes. I usually do well with crawfish colored squarebill crankbaits there. Also rage tail crawfish on a shaky head. That works well too. At johnson park the 3 ponds by the west entrance are good too. I fish the middle one usually, but they are all 3 connected. My boy is 5 and he caught is first bass there on his own about 3 weeks ago on his spinning setup. I catch 2-4lb bass in there about every time I go, on a neon yellow/black Square bill crank. They also seem to like popper frogs if the crank isnt workin. The big pond in the back off the trail there I havent caught any bass. Ive used just about every trick I could think of or read about on here. I have seen them, can't catch them though for some reason. HOWEVER, if you just want your boys to have fun fighting some fish, that pond is loaded with bowfin. I caught 6 decent sized ones today, along with 2 good eating sized blue cats and a flathead. Plus its just a fun spot. I always go to the sand-bed. If you ever see a bald guy with an army backpack and wayyyy to much tackle/rods at these places, its probably me ??.
  3. Caught me a little guy today at johnson, middle pond on the west side seems to be where I always catch them.
  4. Something massive is in there. I watched a brown/tan fish jump about 3 feet in the air, and it was absolutely massive. Bigger than any bass I've seen and it sure as hell didnt look like one. I'm relatively new to freshwater, but I've been able to fish about 60-70 times this year to practice at these local ponds and lakes. Never seen anything like it.
  5. I appreciate the info bro! I'm just looking for new (to me) little spots around collierville that I haven't fished yet. Finally got myself a scale so I'm ready to see what I can get!
  6. So, the big pond off of the trail behind the park. Is there anything actually in here? I've seen a couple people fishing in there before but never seen anything in it. Ive fished the others 3 and the main pond with the fountains. But never that big one. If anyone has experience with the big one let me know.
  7. Well, after reading this entire thread, I went to Halle Park. Caught what would have been a PB by a lot(though that wouldn't be difficult) and as soon as I got it to the bank and went to pull it out, my line (8lb test Ande) snapped. A few mins later I saw what I believe to be the same fish, jumping and thrashing in the middle of the pond, trying to get the hook out. Does Ande line just suck or do I need to up the test? I'm pretty upset. Not about losing the fish as much as I don't want the fish to die for no good reason, but there isn't much I could do. BTW, for inquiring minds, I was using a rage tail rage craw 4" coffee scented on an owner brand shaky head 1/4oz. I also lost my Bluetooth headphones in the water at this time, which happen to be waterproof. So as the fish was getting away, it was listening to Joe Rogan and Elon Musk. Maybe it's smarter for it ??
  8. Hey guys. Just joined the site. I'm in collierville. Tired of herb parsons fishing from the shore. I have a 1436 Jon I'm working on but its not water ready yet. Was thinking about going to this creek spot off of col-arlington a mile or two north of town. Not sure if its considered wolf river or Johnson creek. Anybody ever been there? I see a downed tree from the rd when I drive by in the water right by the access. Looks like it could be alright
