  1. My all time favorite red is this Lucky Craft "Rayban Red".....http://www.ichibantackle.com/picture/8170lvmax500_clearred.jpg But Wakin, Spring Craw, Aurora Craw and Aurora Ghost Craw works too....
  2. I get the body parts like this........
  3. G Man, If you show up at the NCRU this year, you are more than welcome to take my Frog Rod out for a spin.....
  4. I use a 7' 9" Fast/Mag Heavy with 65lb. Sufix Braid.....Either in the soup or open water.
  5. Amen....really enjoy "The Hunt".
  6. I do not own either of the rods you are asking about. However I do own this one SMR 702C TW and it is a great little stick.....http://www.gloomis.com/publish/content/gloomis_2010/us/en/conventional/rods/smallmouth_rods/bronzeback_series.html Since you say the handle is to long on the 782 you may want to check it out. Being a shorter rod it allows you to get into tight places and yet you can let it rip over open water without a problem. One more thing this little puppy has plenty of backbone, love the way it locks up when set the hook on a larger fish...............
  7. I want to be clear about my post....The way I read the highlighted area is Kent has not adjusted the spool tension to the weight of the lure he is throwing. Now normally what happens when you do not do that you will start to get big loops forming on the spool which turn into a backlash. That is why I am saying he needs to add a little spool tension. I am not recommending you use your spool tension as a brake but honing in on what I perceive is his problem at the start up point of his casting as to why it is backlashing.... What works for me is to apply spool tension till the lure drops freely after I disengage the clutch. If I do not see any large loops forming after the cast I will continue to back off the spool tension knob a click or two to free up the spool as much as possible.(fine tuning). I will continue this process until the reel starts to form those loops staying in control and not backlashing.....
  8. You need to add a little spool tension ......Just add a little more till those big loops go away.

  10. Thought this might help..........http://tackletour.com/reviewlexa100.html
  11. Since you are starting out I would suggest a rod that will handle up to 3oz. baits. A reel in the 250- 300 class with Trilene Big Game 25lb. test...Two lures to start with would be a Black Dog G2 6" Lunker Plunker and a G2 Shell Cracker.....As far as pricing for Swimbaits remember that you are now entering into the zone of realism in a bait to fool the big ones and that like anything else equates to more money......
  12. The 803 has 3 Fuji Titanium framed SIC Guides followed with 7 Rec Recoil Black Ion coated Nickle Titanium Guides. Great little stick that feeds right into your thinking..... Go for it.
  13. If you do not mind send me a PM of the reel you are looking at......If you are looking at what I think you are that is a 200 size reel with a shallow mag. spool. Thinking you may want a waffle and deep spool. The AR is a 100 size reel with a 5.8:1 ratio while the 200 is a 6.2:1.
  14. While ordering drag grease from Shimano this morning I asked the question would using Hot Sauce on the gears void the warranty. The answer was no.....
  15. You still talking just L P's correct......
