  1. As a recent fluorocarbon convert, my vote goes to Seaguar Red Label in the 12 and 15# weights. This stuff has been great! My now go to line.
  2. That’s my main focus is for my own use. If some one comes along and inquires about my homemade lures...that could be different. This is my overall intention especially just to make use of my old plastics. I guess I misworded my initial post, I wouldn’t want to try and make money on it. It would be for personal use.
  3. I had kind of figured that to some degree. I have watched YouTube videos of guys doing it and they all mention “orders” for their baits. So basically, if my aim is to make money with it it is more of a go versus my own use type of thing. Or if I build enough of a pile of unused leftover plastics then I could use that.
  4. Anyone else do/have done this? I want to pour my own craws, senkos, and finesse worms. What am I getting into? Ins and outs, pros and cons?
  5. Sorry to hear about your situation friend. Hopefully it gets better for you with that new start. That is some good setups you have there and similar to what I’m hoping to have gathered up before too long.
  6. I fish mostly by myself and sometimes when the wife tags along. We/I normally fish from the bank at our local lake/pond/river and seldomly do we get on a boat. I am extremely addicted to two types of fishing: 1) T-Rigs 2) Topwater Crankbaits have their place too. Shaky head rigs are starting to become enticing.
  7. That’ll give me a starting point right there! Thanks friend.
  8. 5/16 I think is what I will go with I don’t know yet
  9. As of right now, it’ll mostly see fishing from the bank and some boat. I too over analyze which I don’t believe is a bad thing by no means lol The color matching thing is somewhat secondary to me as I try to match “best reel with best rod” type of thing or what I consider best with best.
  10. I’ll admit...I can get carried away just by the “new and shiny” appeal of a rod and reel and seemingly forget what and why I’m shopping for. That’s why I’m looking for answers like yours that give me some direction lol
  11. What is a good rod length and action and also what would be a good gear ratio in a reel for shaky head finesse worms? I know I could use any rod and reel, but I am curious as to what the best/better “science” of it is. Also, what would be a good size weight on the jig? Im thinking a 10-12# FC would be fine as far as line goes. Who makes a good finesse worm in your opinion? I have had luck with YUM cranberry finesse worms in stained water at the lake, but that was pure luck on choice and not something I had the knowledge of basically. I was using a 7’ MHF rod with 30lb braid for not knowing any better as I am still brand new to bass fishing. Edit: preferably a baitcaster setup!
  12. That’s about the area where I’m landing with my thoughts on this. I’ve been scouting some rod and reel combos as the likely candidates at least to keep costs down, but still within reason. I’m thinking $200 combos should be about right in the Shimano/Lews/Daiwa arena.
  13. And that’s what I am hoping to achieve by having a few more rigs on hand.
  14. You guys are making it hard for me to only want a few rod setups lol
  15. Looks and sounds like a great set up friend. I hope it works well for you!
  16. This is where I am on this as well. I’ve contemplated buying a DC reel because I thought it would be very beneficial to my being new to baitcasters, but I decided to go with a non digital reel and I’m happy with it. As said above, if the right deal comes along I’ll jump on it more than likely just so I can say I tried it if nothing else.
  17. Yeah I am a huge bank Fisher in my area mostly because I don’t have a kayak yet but I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the walks in the woods to and from the fishing holes. I always carry two baitcasters with me because I learned the hard way why only carrying one is a crap idea. My wife has fished her whole life and enjoys every kind of fishing. She is my best friend and I am thankful that I have her especially when we can share this passion. You may try to baby step your wife into the world of fishing(I’m sure you have tried) because it really is wonderful to share the experience.......even if she is catching all the fish and you aren’t. It also helps out with explaining why I NEED another rod and reel and $200-300 Is how much that is going to cost lol she normally tries to steer me to the cheaper stuff, but she is coming around to the better deals. I am seeking no cure!!
  18. Thanks guys I think I am getting a better understanding of what I need to do!
  19. I will do just that friend. It literally did not cross my mind lol thanks!!
  20. Easier said than done friend. She would rather I do it.
  21. Yeah that’s what I am mostly getting at from your posts and I wasn’t sure what a good amount would be. I only have two baitcasters set up right now(it’s all I got) one for T-Rigs exclusively and the other I try to keep for my top water and cranks and is also the one my wife normally fishes with so I’m constantly changing lures for her when she loses patience from one lure to another. Mainly trying to cut down on having to constantly tie on different stuff while being able to have my dedicated stuff going.
  22. I am curious as to how many “main” setups you have that you actually use the most. I am trying to figure out the necessary amount of rod and reels I need to have in total for my type(s) of fishing without redundancy. My favorite type of fishing for bass is T-rig, Top water, Crankbait with some spinner baits here and there. Should I Dedicate two setups per type? How do you do it? I know better than to go fishing anywhere with just one single rod and reel And I’m thinking six total rods and reels setup so I can have a back up to each style that I like. This question for most will seem like a no brainer I know. Thanks guys!
  23. Man why did you do that?? now I’m gonna have to explain to my wife why I am about to spend that kind of money again lol seriously that setup is gorgeous and I bet it handles like a dream.
