  1. Thank you as well as others here who have given me the advice and insight so far. I’m capping my budget for a new boat at $20k and was wondering...if it were your money...what would you buy? @Captain Phil
  2. Googan baits has their Mondo Worm in that color and it has produced for me in the past. I’d vote for it!
  3. He said the guy does it right where it sits which was in the water when he told me, but he has a lift in his dock house that he uses to lift out of the water as well. He could very well have meant that he lifts it for the tech. I quite honestly would probably be one of those who over maintain as you stated simply because I would have a note on it to begin with. I am a do it yourself type with almost everything that comes my way, but again the warranty is why I would let the shop do it.
  4. As someone who is looking at getting my first bass boat along with having never owned a boat with a motor to boot, what kind of maintenance costs am I looking at? I do have a good understanding of mechanical things as per my trade and all but as long as the boat is under warranty I’d rather a dealer service it in under those terms. I have an older friend whose boat is well maintained year around and he was telling me that he pays a tech to come to his lake home and services his boat right there in the water for approximately $300-$400 each time and says it’s just a “good tune up”. I understand that a new boat will/should have recommended service intervals. My work schedule may or may not allow for me to fish as much as I want all depending on the economy at any given time so I may not meet hourly interval recommendations, but none the less I do want my boat to run like a top at any of those given times respectively. Edit: B.O.A.T- Break Out Another Thousand. Is that just a common thought from people who don’t properly maintain a boat? My friend I mentioned above pays that fee once a year and his boat runs great all year even after it hangs in his covered dock during his “off season”.
  5. My wife is the same way. She manages to find the one lure that every store manages to sell maybe...three of in a year, looks like something that a pre school child drew in crayons....and will catch the biggest and most fish with it. Every single time.
  6. Nice work friend. You just let the bait monkey back into my life. I hope your happy with yourself......;)
  7. It actually performed the best for me in stained and muddy water.
  8. I’m definitely in on this one! My wife actually suggested that we get a new boat today and I’m curious as well.
  9. In my part of the country it is a great flavor of not only homemade wine...but trick worm as well
  10. I picked up a pack of “Tomato” Zoom trick worms during COVID lockdown last year and I was pretty surprised at how well they turned out on a hook for me. Being completely honest, I only bought them because I thought it sounded like Zoom was running out of ideas of what to call their baits lol even though I know there are ALOT of more unique names out there. I have always had a knack for buying weird colored/shaped baits just to try them out.
  11. I have a tatula 100 that is worth it’s weight in gold. I was kind of weary about the T level wind in it but it’s fantastic.
  12. I’m right there with you friend! I did receive about $300 from family for my birthday yesterday and I promptly made a “resupply trip” to tacklewarehouse.com. Every brick and mortar store within 50 miles of me is sold out of everything that I needed. I ended up paying only $25ish dollars out of pocket for it all after my bday funds were adjusted to my account. -I picked up three or four packs of single tail grubs(various colors from various companies) -Zoom super flukes in various colors -Zoom craws in various colors -Couple packs of 6th Sense creatures(can’t remember name of hand) -Several jig heads with under spinners -Several 6th sense crank baits at all depths -Several swim jigs I bought 26 items in total to include an Abu Garcia Vendetta 7’ MH rod for a new reel I got for my anniversary as well. I stole that .gif too btw lol
  13. I’ve never owned a lews spinning reel before, but was thinking about picking up a couple of the heavy ones for cat fishing.
  14. A lot of flak headed my way for this one, but I bought a Lews tournament SLP at bass pro last year that is just not enjoyable. It looks decent, but feels like something I dug out of a Cracker Jack box even though it functions just fine as intended. The only rod I own that I have any discord with is the Abu vengeance rod I bought 6’9” for my shakey head set up. The reel mentioned above is what it is paired with. It’s a med/hvy fast but isn’t sensitive at all and feels like I may as well be fishing with a broom handle.
  15. Truer words have yet been spoken on this thread lol
  16. The SLX, Curado K etc.? Curious as I have some birthday funds from the family and was thinking about picking one up out of curiosity. Personally I feel like the chip is just one more thing that will fail over time(what doesn’t?) and wasn’t sure if it’s worth the extra coin over a standard reel.
  17. It seems like the general consensus is that I should pass and I think I will. Thanks guys!
  18. I need to go in store at academy and handle them and see what I can get a feel for.
  19. I’m an Abu guy at heart with a lews or two floating around, but I am seeing and hearing a lot of good things about these reels. If they are well known at this point and I’m just unaware then I’ll claim fault and say I have been living under a rock. I need another rod and reel setup like I need another hole in my head lol so I was wondering if you guys think this brand is good to go? I’m thinking a good crank bait setup or dedicated shakey head/T -Rig.
  20. My tackle bag is one of those military style assault packs and it works well for me. It carry’s enough tackle that I could supply a small army with fishing essentials. It is well padded in the back so the weight distribution isn’t really a bother.
  21. Naturally it’s sideways of course. I haven’t seen this brand on shelves in about 15 years. My dad gave me a bunch of his old bass fishing lures and such since he can’t get around as well as he used to and he knows I love it.
  22. I have to ask, do fish see well at night? Well bass anyway.
  23. Good! This is prime time then.
