  1. To everyone who commented on this thread, thank you. I figured out the culprit. I took the spool bearing out and cleaned the recess that it sat in. It was very, very dirty. I cleaned and dried the bearing of any excessive oil, then added a tiny amount of my Penn Grease to the bearing. It casts like a dream now and is very quiet. I appreciate all the help, and as always, tight lines
  2. I'm gonna send it in to a guy I think and have him play with it. I appreciate the help Spool shaft is mint. I'm sending it in to be cleaned and greased out, and i'm gonna have the dude replace the bearings. I appreciate the help man.
  3. Everything is in place. I contacted a reel repairman in Illinois, probably going to send it in soon and have him clean it out and look at it. I'm gonna have it just straight flush it out and see if it fixes the problem. Let me guess, this frame mounted bearing is a ***** to get to huh?
  4. I've taken it apart and oiled and greased it up as well. Not really scared to do that. Just frustrating when I do and the problem isn't fixed lol.
  5. My Shimano Scorpion XT 1500, pretty much identical to the old green machine Curado 200 E series is making a terrible noise when casting. Almost sounds like a turtle getting ready to mate. Any thoughts? I think it might by a dry bearing. I tried oiling and cleaning the brake drum, and it's squeaky clean and oiled. Still having the same problem.
  6. Thank you man, I appreciate the input.
  7. They are great rods, I love them.
  8. It is Braid, and it's on a daiwa aird x, so could be the problem lol Ill try and respond with a pic tomorrow. It is happening on my Shimano Citica No matter the weight of the lure, it always occurs Rod is brand new, barely used, so guides are fine and look fine. They are all clean It is 20 lb kastking braid The spool tension isn't very tight, but no matter how tight is still does it.
  9. Whenever I push the button to allow my reel to free spool, the line starts to free spool and then stops mid free spool. When it stops, a bit of line comes off my spool and is tangled a bit. What is wrong? I've re-spooled multiple times trying to fix and it didn't seem to help. Thanks for your help.
