  1. I always cut the thread & epoxy finish on the guide foot...this rod had the thickest application of epoxy finish I'd ever had to deal with. The heat trick worked, I al putting the new guides in the exact spot. I did have an issue afterwards with cramped fingers! Many Thanks for the responses!
  2. Thanks! I've never dealt with this much epoxy on a rod before! My biggest concern is damaging the blank itself.
  3. I was asked to replace the guides on an older Halo rod for a coworker. The main issue I'm having is the incredibly thick epoxy covering the guide wraps. Football-ish is the best way to describe them. Any suggestions on softening the epoxy without damaging the blank? He would like to keep using this blank (kind of like his 'lucky' rod). Thanks in advance!
  4. Two piece white CRB M/L blank....guide wraps painted to match the Winn Grips. CFX reel seat insert.
  5. I also use a lot of copolymer line on the Upper Potomac and a few deep lakes in my area. Line capacity is a bit of a factor in my decision. I'd get a 3000 size reel in Daiwa or Shimano, but personally...I do not like the T shape grip on either brand.
  6. Many thanks for your reply!
  7. I have a Daiwa Exceler LT 2500-XH. I would like to know if a spool from an Exceler LT 3000-XH would fit. My goal would be more line capacity, and, with a slightly larger spool, less line memory issues.
  8. Mick D.....I hear ya loud and clear! I've been extremely satisfied with all my Bushidos!! s well as my MHXs.
  9. One spinning rod, MHX blank, XF, 6'9". One baitcast rod, Bushido blank, XF, 6'9"
  10. So many welcome replies! Many thanks! I used WD40, and followed up with a mixture of Dawn dish soap (to cut the oil), and baking soda (mild abrasive). The grip handle is now like new. This mix of Dawn and baking soda is a great hand cleaner for greasy fingers after cleaning reels!
  11. I acquired a reel with a rubber grip. This grip had electrical tape on it. What would be the best method for removing the adhesive residue? I'm thinking a mixture of dish soap and a bit of baking soda in very hot tap water.
  12. Planning on a new personal finesse/shaky head/light worming rod. Opinions on these three blanks: Cashion CR6r-iP842 (7') vs the MHX SJ833-MHX (6'11") vs the Cashion CR6r-iP843 (7').
  13. Anyone else have this issue with Pro Paste: The resin has become dried out, crystallized, lumpy...less so in the middle. The hardner is just fine, no issues.
  14. So many possibilities
  15. I built it for a charity fundraiser.
  16. It's just a distinctive fore grip.
  17. If you're wondering how I got the fore grip...held in place with JB Weld Steel Weld (thoroughly washed inside), and coated in epoxy finish.
  18. MHX SJ812 Spin Jig vs. Bushido SJ68/6-10 vs. Bushido SJ68/6-12 For a smaller river smallmouth rod. Would like everyone's opinion on these blanks.
  19. Are there any here who have experienced this line? Pros...Cons? Knot strength? Durability?
  20. It's new, it's interesting looking! The new Okuma ITX Carbon spinning reel. Has anyone gotten their hands on one yet?
  21. Many thanks!! Like I said, I was curious. It'll take something really special to replace my Daiwa Exceller LT 2500HD in that price range!
  22. I've been seeing a lot of posts on social media about Piscifun reels. How do they stack up against the likes of ABU Garcia, Daiwa, and Lew's?
  23. I saw the same thing in a redfish tournament that was structured like MLF.
  24. MHX SJ843 blank, CRB LZR guides, American Tackle Aero CCT reel seat, Winn Grips handle.
