  1. One of the advantages of a stupid tube is that you can use heavier gear. I use similar to what is throw a TRig on. There's a technique to it in rocks. Some people just drag and break off a lot. Not saying I don't lose to rocks, but I lose less than I used to.
  2. Was he more successful with an open hook?? LoL
  3. Sounds like the camera man doesn't rig/fish it right. My hookup to land is near 100%. And I rarely break off.
  4. You're not crazy far, pm me if you're in town and we can go out on the Triton. Best Swim Jig rod I've found, given my preferences. https://cajunrods.com/collections/black-bayou™-large-species-freshwater-rods
  5. Yep, sounds about exactly what I was thinking of!
  6. Yeah, big red flag for me personally. I throw swim jigs where a lot of people throw frogs. LoL.
  7. The trick is finding that handful of lures. I had to pay to play in both dollars and time. LoL
  8. Are you paddle trolling? If not why can't you hold your rod?
  9. What makes it Calcasieu style? I looked on Google briefly but didn't find much.
  10. Can't help you but I understand the confusion. That's light for a swim jig rod.
  11. Hard to describe with typing, but you can get extra distance by whipping your rod around to build momentum with centrifugal force. Part of it may also be that your rod doesn't load properly, as you said it's an inexpensive combo.
  12. So you altered something in the trim system and now it's not working as before.... That may warrant re-researching.
  13. I would lean towards a longer rod. But I would also experiment with more exotic casting techniques.
  14. That's is a great feeling! Though, honestly, I'm still spending a lot. But instead of buying ten different things to try, I'm buying nine proven things and one wildcard.
  15. I have a HUGE pile of tackle that's probably never getting wet again because I found what works for me. Unfortunately, I had to buy and try a lot to find those things. Thankfully, the money I spend now is mostly on productive baits. I said mostly because I still experiment, it's fun for me.
  16. Chasing spark is a constant headache. Glad you got it sorted out!!
  17. Oh you're fine, was poking at A-Jay. Good on you for checking.
  18. Pline Floroclear is the stretchiest line Ive ever used. It was kind of fun to fish with because I never knew whether I hooked into a perch, a pike, or a bass. Ultimately,I decided that the stretch was ridiculous and abandoned it but it sounds like that's actually what you want.
  19. I wouldn't buy a new TM without a warranty unless it was cheap AF.
  20. Thankfully she's stronger than most women, but the point is taken. I was going to have her squeeze a few courtesy rounds through it before purchasing just to make sure. She wants a sidearm, so a shotgun isn't an option unless maybe she likes a coach gun style with a holster.
  21. Awesome!!
  22. I also fish fully covered, got too much ginger in me to handle sunlight. I picked up a set of sun pants and long sleeve shirt both by Columbia and really like them. I'm barely warmer than just a t-shirt and shorts. And on those muggy nasty days, I feel like I'm a bit cooler.
