  1. It's more like a stand-alone movie in between seasons. The season 4 of Mando is still coming. I LOVE The Mandalorian, yet I just don't how to describe what Favreau did. I mean, Mando's story line is simple and straight-forwarded, nothing fancy, but it just seems to get the gist of Star Wars. The sequel trilogy is something I choose to ignore.
  2. Both of them are pretty smooth. Curado has a metal side plate and X-ship, but Tatula has T-wing and third-party spool options. I think it comes down to the line capacity and lure weights. Curado K is a 200 size reel that excels at 3/8oz plus lures; Tatula CT is a 100 size reel good for 1/4 - 1oz lures. Edited: I stand corrected. The K also has a plastic handle side plate. I must've remembered it wrong.
  3. "Jon Favreau is directing a new Star Wars movie, titled 'The Mandalorian & Grogu.' It will go into production later this year."
  4. Finally finished the TD-Z rebuild. This is my first time to spray paint something like this, so I have made a LOT of mistakes. Well, lesson learned and better luck next time. I still have a TD Zillion waiting. Besides the paint job, which took up most of the time, other works include, 1. Deep cleaned EVERY part. The reel was quite dirty, and hadn't been used for a while. 2. Fixed a loose magnet brake ring. 3. Replaced one pinion bearing, one main shaft bearing, and a level wind bearing. Flushed the rest. Surprisingly, two spool bearings are still in great shape. 4. Upgraded the drags to carbontex, and mirror-polished the drag washers. 5. Replaced the gear set with TT's 7:1 gears kit, which is a little different than the original gear set design. 6. Replaced the front piece with a new one. Not sure how long it will last though. 7. Installed an aluminum drag star and a 95mm Gomexus handle. 8. Put a Steez SV 105 spool in it, for now. This is the original reel: And this is the finished rebuild:
  5. Yeah, the promotion period just ended and the Yen is up a little, so it's not much different than Digitaka pricing now.
  6. Isn't R18 is the same line as Tatsu? I have tried a couple series from YGK braids, very impressed by their slickness, not so much by their abrasion resistance. 131 is on my list as well, but I just couldn't convince myself of that high price. Shimano has free shipping for it till Dec 26: https://fishshop.shimano.com/products/mastiff-fc
  7. This Gomexus handle and titanium knobs are pretty nice for 45 bucks, but I could only find it on Japan websites, not on Gomexus's official site or other Chinese sites. Why? US and Chinese markets aren't big enough?
  8. I put a Scorpion MGL spool in my Curado K. It casts 3/8oz jerkbaits much better.
  9. I agree. Currents will definitely make everything doubly easier to get snagged. I've only tried the 1/2oz one - it got snagged so terribly I had to wind it back very quickly without touching the bottom. I gave it up after that trip. I did get a 1/4oz one, but haven't got the change to try it yet.
  10. All Pure Fishing companies have free shipping till 12/15, no minimum.
  11. "C" compact is not just about the spool size; the reel body as well. For example, C3000 will have the same size body and same diameter spool as a regular 2500; C2500 will have the body and spool size of a regular 2000... The difference between a C3000 and a regular 2500 is C3000's spool is deeper for more line capacity. Compare the reel weights and you'll see. So say you want a larger diameter spool of fluoro, a 3000 or bigger size reel will be better, since a C3000's spool diameter will be the same as a 2500's.
  12. According to Daiwa's website, it's an in-between of regular Zillion and Zillion HD - it uses the HD's body, but the gears are aluminum. The bearings are all CRBB same as the HD's, and the bearing count is one more than the HD's (not counting the handle bearings).
  13. The new Zillion platform, though very smooth, never appeals to me in the sense of looks. It's just plain-looking IMO, no matter the finish. The OG Zillion on the other hand...
  14. I guess it depends on what bottom we are discussing here. For a rocky bottom and shallow water like Susquehanna's, it'd get snagged much more easily than a jig.
  15. Very true. It does not work very well on shallow waters
  16. Not to gloat or put salt on wound, but actually it's 2.24 per pack - the 10% off code still works on these things.
  17. You could also spend less than $60 to get a 19 Scorpion MGL 150 spool from plat. I have one and it handles light lures much better on my Curado K. I use 12lb fluoro to cast 3/8 oz jerkbaits.
  18. No, used ones, but in mint condition. Yahoo Japan, Mercari, Rakuten... there're many listings if you are willing to spend some time to look. I just helped my fishing buddy purchase a mint condition Metanium for $150 tyd.
  19. They're about the same. The newest Zillion may have a small advantage on distance over the older ones, but the point is its durability and versatility. With a 34mm spool, the new Zillion has so many different spool options for any lure weight.
  20. I'd take the JDM route and get a Zillion for less than $200, or a Tatula SV for $120-130 If distance is your goal, I feel that Metanium, Curado, or any Shimano reel with MGL should be your target. Daiwa reels aren't much about max distance but control.
  21. 1. Try the Duel Hardcore Minnow; it runs pretty shallow, casts really far, and has floating/suspend two different versions. That's one of my favorite hard jerkbaits for 2~3ft water. You can also try Mach Bait's Werkbait - a combination of wakebait and jerkbait that runs very shallow. 2. Try the Bass Patrol football jigs; it's an oldie but goodie. It has a small 2/0 but very sturdy hook (much better than Bitsy Bugs'), a living rubber skirt for cold water, and an affordable low price. It's one of my favorite jigs for shallow creek smallie fishing, catching from less than 1 pounder all the way to 20" 3. I don't use spinnerbait in shallow water much, but when I do, I tend to use double willow War Eagle spinnerbait.
  22. I was talking about the hassle of getting better deals on JDM reels than merchants like Digitaka. You could find an almost new JDM Zillion SV TW for about $150 if you spend some time to look. I just got a brand new Conquest 201 for $200 even, but it did take me some time to sift through all the postings.
  23. Consider the low price of JDM reels, it's worth the hassle.
