These jigs are 5/16 Kingfisher hair jigs which is a local product here. I tore an inch off of a Zoom Z Craw in Black Light for a trailer and they look amazing at rest in the water. That trailer stands it up just like a crawdad in a defensive “about to be ate” posture. I had dragged this jig, hopped it, swam it so those Z Craw pincers would give off their sweet little roll, but when I jerked this jig same as a jerkbait- it was bam on first try. I never made another cast, I knew my luck was up ? and that I was told dinner was ready!

I have never fished in December. Last night was in the 20’s but today was up in the 50’s, overcast and a few drips of rain off and on. I don’t know what the water temperature is but this bass was cold and his kisser was looking like spring. I tried a lipless res in a pond but no joy. I then threw this hair jig and after many attempts…my first December bass!! Ahhhh the smell of fish!

Here’s an option for you. Do you like the red EYE Shad or the red EYED Shad best? 2015 Strike King changed their name in blue on their products to red. This was a result of the company changing their line ups or place of manufacture. 2016 saw the name change of red eye to red eyed and the white butuyrane plastic bodies changed to a clear healthier plastic. Also the introduction of the 2 tap model. Some fishermen claim the earlier plastic makes a difference

I highly recommend this little 2 3/4” length $3 lure from Creme. It walks but it gets hit just at rest or with a tiny twitch. The view of its underside to the fish must be exactly like a small dying or distressed baitfish.

Somebody should start us the ultimate spinnerbait thread for discussion of styles, weights, retrieves, colors, blade combos, skirt preferences, trailers, Jdm, vintage models, depths, cover and structure targeted, wire types and sizes, brands and makers, rods, reels, line, etc…

When I watch bass catching vids I like a vid laid out the way Tactical Bassin does it. But 9 times out of 10 if I watch something fishing related it has to have Epic Eric in it and if he’s talking to Baitman for 2-3 hours and sharing lure knowledge, well that’s the top of the mountain!!

I am wanting to try my hand at painting lures. I am a complete beginner. I went shopping over the weekend and bought a air compressor, an Iwata Eclipse brush and about $50 of Createx paints to begin with. I’m slowly adding things I need and hope to finally get started in the new year ahead. What is the smartest way to do stencils? Is there a go to source that’s considered top tier? Do you guys make your own? Is there patterns that can be printed? Thanks! All advice is appreciated considering my future hobby.
