I remember a warm up in March one year after a big rain and a much bigger stream of water was still high but moving slow and looked like chocolate milk. I threw that chartreuse Booyah spinnerbait because I was there and nothing else to do. Bam!! Smallmouth keyed in on the vibration and was wanting a meal.
@A-Jay couple years ago there was a jerkbait you couldn’t get bit with at deeper depths. I was thinking it was a MB. Did you correct that?
I always wondered if it was a line or different rod length, action, spine that was needed to get the snap into the lure at deep depth.
This is a good thread to bring back up. I was just thinking about the Ky cicada hatch in ‘25 and I think surrounding states is this summer.
I was talking about June bugs and how bright metallic green some are. Has anybody got anything close to that green? Then I see lots of the brown ones here and Japanese beetles are abundant. I guess I got topwater on my mind in winter, but it is everybody’s favorite when the bite is good.
I lipped and held that state record on the June big lizard Log Catcher. I happened be at a taxidermist in London and he showed it to me. Big rascal.
Anybody have a color topwater to match the metallic green junebug?
I’ve accumulated several of those looking lures of different brands but have never cast one. I vote for you using it to at least catch one! Great topic.
