  1. Think I have 10 LV’s and have never caught a fish on one. Red Eye Shad is my go to lipless. Metrowest ponds were locked up this morning.
  2. It looks like Pearl Jam will be playing Raleigh on May 11th and 13th. I plan on coming down from Boston for 3 days for the shows and will get a guide for bass fishing during the day. What lakes would guys recommend in the Raleigh area? Will have a rental so can drive an hour or so. Any local guides I should consider? Thanks!
  3. Blades crush Smallies at the Chu for me but do you guys use them in lakes dominated by Largemouth? Any luck with blades on the Larry’s? if you haven’t tried a Damiki Vault yet give it a shot. One of the best in my experience.
  4. What were you seeing for water temps? Heading out in my yak tomorrow. Thx!
  5. Hey Guys, I'm planning a trip to Cayuga for some fall bass fishing in October (in a kayak). Planning to fish mostly largemouth up the northern end of lake. Can anyone recommend a good hotel or place to stay? Not afraid to spend some money for a nice comfortable place. Thanks for the help!
  6. What temp do you feel the spawn peaks at? I had 66-68 on a Metrowest pond yesterday and 65-67 on another this morning.
  7. Man the bass fishing has been tough the past week or so. I think the fish are in that post spawn funk. At least here in Metrowest. Or maybe it’s just me Anyone else having a rough go of it?
  8. I like IKE. He pushes his sponsors products real hard, which can be annoying. Rapala/VMC was the only one of his sponsors products I use. Berkley, ABU, Molix are all garbage in my opinion.
  9. Don't sleep on putting your favorite 3" Ned bait on the back of a 1/2 or 3/4oz football jig fellas. Especially dragging jigs in deeper cold water (40's). I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago up here in Mass and have been absolutely smashing bass ever since. I have tried switching back to my typical cold water jig trailers including pork and the Ned trailer is out fishing the normal stuff by a noticeable amount. Just trim that jig skirt up so it's a little more finessey. I find "ned jigging" way more enjoyable (and effective) than fishing those super light ned heads on spinning gear. Especially if your fishing deeper water or if long casts are needed (bank guys trying to reach deep water)...
  10. Once the water drops below 60 I’m wearing a semi dry suit all the time. It has latex wrist gaskets but a neoprene gasket on the neck. It’s pretty comfortable and more importantly safe. When the water hits low 40s I put the kayak away and fish the bank if I want to reel a few in.
  11. Jig has been killing it for me lately. Something a little more compact with a Smallie beaver trailer. I like the Keitech Model 1 or Beast Coast Lil Magnum. Jerkbaits are getting bit as well.
  12. Disappointing trip this morning from 7am-12:30pm. Water was 51-53 degrees. Perfect conditions with heavy clouds and a steady 6-8mph wind. Got a few decent bass in the mid 2's early on a Chatterbait. Thought it was going to be a good day. Then I preceded to catch about 100 pickerel on various moving baits and never saw another bass. Catching a few is fun but this was frustrating....
  13. They were chewing big time this morning. Feed bag is on. Water temps are perfect... mid 50's. Good luck this weekend!
  14. Got out most of the day on Friday in the kayak on a small Metrowest lake. Fished from 7am-3pm. Water temps around 60 degrees most of the day. Numbers were just okay for a long day, but I got a 5.7 and 5.1 on a hump out in 15' of water. Both fish slammed my a-rig a few cranks into the retrieve. Probably got another 7 or 8 fish between 1-2lbs as well. Most of the small fish were on a Chatterbait around grass. Few on a lipless. Hit the local reservoir this morning (no boats allowed) and smashed the dinks for a few hours before a family bday party. Place is notorious for small fish. Probably landed 25 fish and the biggest might have gone 1.5lbs. Many less than a pound. Jerkbaits, lipless and jigs did all the work. I did manage a nice 4.7lb larry on a Chatterbait right as I was leaving, so that was cool. I usually have to catch about 100 dinks over several trips before I catch a 3-5lb bass here. Good luck fellas!
  15. Yeah, I'm going out all day tomorrow. Will probably try a few Metrowest small lakes/ponds. Don't have high hopes, but it should be a nice day anyways (beats working). The lack of any decent wind is really what has me discouraged. I'm a lot more excited about Sunday's forecast. Heavy clouds, low 50's, steady light rain and a NE wind. Those are my type of conditions for fall fishing. Good luck!
