  1. Hi! Happy Monday. Seeing the results from Pickwick definitely don't have me in the greatest mood. I've been concerned about so much tournament pressure all across the country, and as I heard it put - "When you have 3-5 tournaments a week out of multiple ramps 12 months out of the year then host high school, college, and pro am tournaments on these lakes all year, they will never get better" This frightens me looking forward to the next generation of bass fishing, will it even exist? I'd love a discussion. I make a distinction regarding looking forward to the next generation. Pickwick is generally regarded as a good example of fishing significantly slowing after constant pounding. I'm younger, so the threat of such trends continuing over the next 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years matters. I do, however, understand that things will ebb and flow and are likely to sort themselves out. I do feel that restrictions on tournaments need to be priority for TPWD and other states, though.
  2. Many people will tell you that grass isn’t a good place to drop shot, but that’s an incredibly ignorant thing to say. If you use a smaller EWG or worm hook, (2/0), you will do GREAT in grass. A texas rigged dropshot will catch you gobs and gobs of fish. If you worry about action, throw a slightly larger bait, (instead of a 4.5 inch bait, throw a 6.5 inch). If you really want to throw a drop shot in heavy cover, check out the Bubba Shot. Bassresource has a video on the Bubba Shot rig.
  3. The Zoom Trick Worm and BioSpawn Plasma Tail (6.5 inch for most shakey applications) are both killer! The plasma tails also work great for dropshotting, both 4.5 and 6.5 work amazing.
  4. Good deal. Just wanted to throw that out there so you wouldn’t make any mistakes. ?
  5. All of us are here for you every step of the way. Hold on to that hope, Tom. Quite a few of us look up to you, all of our wishes are going out to y’all. -Leo V.
  6. Gary Yamamoto gave me a spool of YGK G-SoulSS112, he uses it quite a bit. I don’t use it, but I do still have the spool, the line does sink, but I’m sticking with 832! Also, as a WARNING, the YGK works best with spinning gear. It’s incredibly limp, and seems ( to me at least ) to be designed for spinning setups.
  7. I figured. 10lb is strong enough to throw 3-16 oz t-rigs, 3/16 oz smaller spinnerbaits, and wacky senkos, right? I’d figure it’d be plenty in some average grass cover.
  8. I own a 2500 Series Ci4+. Is 10# Tatsu Fluorocarbon good on this reel? It’s diameter is equivalent to 8# Trilene XL Mono. I could also go braid to leader, but if the original question’s answer is YES, then I would rather throw that. ( After reading replies to my other thread, I am asking a more specific question )
  9. They both have very defined lateral lines, the THIN dark line starting about 1/4 down the body, almost even to the eye. The side blotches are often determined by where the fish lives ( shallow, deep, shallow in grass, shallow under thick slop ). Hope that helps!
  10. I’m talking about fluoro. 15# braid is 100% the best. Is Tatsu any good in 10# on a spinning setup? It’s diameter is = 8# XL Mono I did purchase braid, ( 15# 832 ) with a spool of CXX for leader. I still can purchase a big spool of 10# Tatsu ( = 8# XL Mono ) and spool that. I just wonder what I should do IYO.
  11. I just worry the 8# is too d**n light for 3/16 oz texas rigs, in average grass cover, and the 10# is too thick to manage! ( 2500 )
  12. Is the 10# too thick to be manageable? Should I just throw braid to leader?
  13. Hello! I am considering spooling up with straight fluorocarbon on my Shimano Ci4+ 2500. I am wondering if I will be good spooling straight 10lb Sniper/Tatsu. I would love if someone has done this and can give me insight as to whether or not that’s a good deal.
  14. Nothing awful at all. I live in Texas, it tends to dip down to 35 or so during the dead of winter.
  15. So for any braid, ( I would throw senkos, trick worms, etc.. on spinning tackle with braid to leader unless I’m punching or using crazy weights ), I would go 832. The “ Neon Lime “ is the best Hi-Vis 832, and lasts quite a while, much more than the low-vis green 832. 832 is incredibly smooth, and I have never had it dig. I’ve used 15-65# 832.
  16. Hello! I have a bit of an odd question. I am wondering if my braid that I will fish through winter will need, or should be trashed and if I should spool on another at the start of spring. I know braid lasts AGES when maintained and not abused horribly, but I have no idea if being in cold constantly, then being subjected to the bi-polar cold-hot weather Texas has will weaken it.
  17. Never heard of that braid!
  18. I am aware. I’m simply asking which retains it’s hi-vis properties the longest. I see. Which one, in your opinion, casts, handles, and do you have confidence in the most? Keep in mind I’m throwing shaky heads, wacky rigs, lizards, etc...
  19. I see. I got worried, reviews on TW are saying it fades super quick and they might as well have left it white. So the P-Line TCB 8 holds it’s hi-vis color better than 832? If so, great! I’m going with P-Line in that case.
  20. Hello! I’m spooling my spinning setup with 15 lb hi-vis braid. I will be using a leader. I am trying to decide between Sufix 832 Neon Lime, and P-Line TCB 8 Hi-Vis. I have used braid for a year or so now, but I’ve never used Hi-Vis. Which keeps color, and works best?
  21. Sounds like the 2500 is what I’m going with!
  22. I target LMB, I fish alot of texas rigged Senkos, craws, 1/8oz jigs, etc.. I am planning on picking up a Tatula LT, but I can’t decide on the 2000 or 2500 size. I’m using 20lb braid to a fluoro leader, so no thick line. Pairing it with a 7’1 Med Fast Rod. Which should I get and why? (2000, or 2500)
