  1. I've never fished a finesse jig, and I've never heard of those, but they look adorable.
  2. Smallie Beaver would be my first choice, but there are some other nice small trailers, too. Z-Man has a couple craw/bug/creature options that will fit a small profile like that. Huddlebugs are 2.75" or so, I think. Ton of options.
  3. I know Matt Allen loves the paca craw, but I've not had the chance to fish with it. In what presentation do you think it shines best?
  4. 1. C5 Corvette 2. I found a bubblegum Stick-O in the hatch a couple weeks ago, so I guess I kept that in the car for a while. 3. All I keep in the car is some jumper cables and a tire pressure gauge.
  5. I really wish the industry would move towards biodegradable soft plastics. For a hobby that, by and large, embraces conservation as heavily as bass fishing does, we sure leave a lot of garbage in the water (and inside the fish).
  6. Lipless crankbaits, without question.
  7. Reel cleaning kit, some crankbaits, lure covers so I can stop having to extricate treble hooks out of the carpet in my hatch, stuff like that. I got myself a Lew's MB reel from the tackle warehouse sale and some more Sweet Beavers. I'm pretty stoked.
  8. That fish been eatin' good.
  9. I won't use a football jig anymore. Got tired of getting snagged and having to break it off to get loose. There's just too much big riprap in all the places I fish, and the head shape is a nightmare for me around all that rock.

  11. When I'm fishing is about the only time I'm not listening to something – at work and at the gym both I blast a lot of metal to drown everything else out so that I can focus, but I don't seem to need that on the water. Curiously, it's also about the only time I'm not constantly vaping, too. I won't think about it until I feel like something's trying to claw its way out of my brain.
  12. Right on. It's fascinating to me, the differences in coloration and pattern among the same species of fish that I've caught sitting in the exact spot I caught the one pictured. I love fishing.
  13. That's... actually a pretty fair point. There's line twist and all that fun stuff with spinning, I guess.
  14. Mine shipped out yesterday. I missed out on the 8.3:1, but that's alright. The 7.5 will do me just fine. I won't get it until I'm back in town next weekend, though. I guess I'll live.
  15. I shared my spot with a dude yesterday who only had spinning gear. While we talked, he was asking me questions about my baitcasters, and I told him "Honestly, there ain't a thing I can do with these that you can't do with what you've got in your hand right now." I think, in this case, the right tools for the job is whatever tool you're most comfortable and accurate with. I never caught anything on a chatterbait, either; but dang if they're not fun to reel back in.
  16. I'm gonna be about 2500 miles from all my gear, so I guess not.
  17. I just love his channel. He's funny and genuine and really, really good at what he does.
  18. This is the video that introduced me to Marling Baits. I've been a huge fan ever since.
  19. Yessir. Brute forcing a body of water is akin to brute forcing a good password. You can do it, sure, but it's gonna take far longer than anybody's got time for.
  20. I was talking to a friend about this today. Professionally, as a developer, basically I solve puzzles for money. When I think about bass fishing, I think about it the same way. Based on (list of variables), what's gonna get me bit today? And it's endlessly fascinating to me, getting continually beaten by an animal with a brain the size of a pea, that works solely on instinct, that will eat almost anything.
  21. Fishing's so weird, dude.
  22. There are dozens of us!
  23. The first fish I caught when I got back into fishing was a freshwater drum on a t-rigged Ol' Monster in the tailwater of a dam I grew up fishing at. So ribbontails I like. Sticks, not so much.
  24. What are your deep, dark fishing secrets? I'll start. Y'all know the Senko? The stick bait that's caught gobs and gobs of fish? I have never, ever caught a fish on one. I read the FAQ, watched hours of video about it, all that. Never even got a sniff, as far as I'm aware. Not weighted. Not unweighted. Not wacky. Not Neko. Not ever.
