  1. …and sometimes they outkick their coverage, and we see something like in the OP. lol
  2. Last Saturday I got to fish for the first time in a long time…for about a half hour. Found an empty boat ramp down at the base of the dragon, and managed to catch a couple fish. Didn't get pics of one of them because it was gill-hooked (it choked the lipless I was throwing) and I wanted to get it back in the water quick. The one I got a picture of was 2lb 9oz. Wasn't much but I'll take it. Then we left to do other stuff. I didn't get to play on the dragon because we were in the woman's car instead of mine.
  3. You're on the right track. This is literally what the arbor knot is for.
  4. I wouldn't say it's better. Just different and cheaper. My fluoro rig is for jigs, weighted plastics – bottom contact stuff. The other two I regularly use are for moving/reaction type lures that I'd more than likely want to keep up in the water column – crankbaits and chatterbaits and whatnot, so I don't need the abrasion resistance and I don't need the sinking. I could just as easily use braid to leader, but I really hate braid.
  5. I've only got fluoro on one rig, and I've got that one spooled with 15lb AbrazX. I like it, but I don't feel like it accounts for enough fish on the hook to make up for its cost versus the Yo-Zuri copolymer that I have spooled on everything else.
  6. Matt & Tim are the bait monkey's chief agents. You gotta be careful watching their stuff.
  7. I'm on call 24/7/365 as the administrator and lead developer for a whole slew of external and internal web properties. At last count, I have 349.06 hours of CTO built up. Having the equivalent of 43 paid days off in the bank is one of the perks of being a recovering workaholic, I guess. So I don't take much time off, but I love what I do. If I'm sick, I just work at the house. That said, if I'm feeling the itch and my systems are reading green, I'll dip out for the afternoon and go beat the bank for a while, and I won't feel a bit bad about it.
  8. I snuck out to play in the mud a couple days ago. It'd been too long since I last fished, and even longer since I caught anything. Caught one, lost another when it shook loose before I could get it lipped, and then I found one of those tiny little micro chatterbaits. So I'll call this sesh a win.
  9. I agree. My experience is that the ripstop likes a more aggressive rod action. The lip on the tail does everything it says on the tin, though. When it stops, boy it stops.
  10. I love fishing a provoke. Best color for me has been chartreuse pearl. I got a Rapala Ripstop not long ago and I really like the action on it, but I haven't had a hit on it yet.
  11. I just did a legit spit take.
  12. Man, for me it's punky wood. If anybody ever needs to find underwater wood, all they gotta do is keep handing me lipless cranks.
  13. I just use my Leatherman. I do need some decent split ring pliers, though.

Ahhh, Fort Dirty. I love it so. Never caught a single thing off Louisville Point. Pretty park, though.

Zoom's got a color, bruised banana, that's like a dirty yellow/brown swirl that'd be a dang near perfect example of matching the hatch for…whatever that critter is. I remember seeing it on the rack at my local Academy.
  16. I did that with my first cast with a new rig a couple months ago. Blew it up so bad I had to cut it out. Spool full of brand new fluoro, too. I guess I can take some small comfort from the fact that nobody saw it but me.
  17. I think that's my favorite thing about their hard plastic lures. Not many brands that I don't feel hinky about the hardware out of the package, but I don't worry about my 6thsense stuff.
  18. "Dad! I'm BORED." "Well go to sleep. I've gotta do this." "But I don't wanna go to sl–"
  19. Yessir. That's exactly what's on this rig.
  20. All good. I should have specified.
  21. Pretty much wherever I can safely get to from land. I'd say that's the problem.
  22. When I was a kid, I fished like a kid. Live bait with splitshot and a bobber for whatever would bite, or soaking chicken livers for catfish. Then I stopped fishing for around 20 years. When I decided to pick it up again last year, I knew I wanted to use lures, and I wanted to, specifically, target bass. I was pretty lost, to be honest. YouTube, as @J Francho noted, helped smooth out my learning curve a lot. Then I found this place and that's helped quite a bit as well.
  23. About two weeks ago stripped a spool's worth of 30lb Sufix off and threw it in the trash where, in my opinion, it belongs. Needless to say, I don't use braid anymore.
  24. When I put my jig/weighted plastics rig together, I spooled it with AbrazX. I hate fishing braid.
