  1. I got my first DC reel. A JDM Curado 200 DC. I've had Curados for a while. I like to service my own reels, and I use a few drops of bantam oil on the centrifugal brass brake in the cover. However I noticed from the factory the magnetic brass housing on the DC reel has grease on it. Not the part on the spool, but the housing on the cover. I'm wondering if I should clean it off and just use a few drops of oil like on a normal reel. Grease would limit the casting distance wouldn't it?
  2. This seems to be the only Expride I can get my hands on right now, but I can't find any reviews on it at all. I want something for Keitech's, chatterbaits and to perform double-duty with smaller jigs that are too light for my 7'2 Heavy Expride A. I'm curious if anyone has one and what techniques they use it for. I'd prefer the 7'2 MH, but finding one in stock is near impossible.
  3. Yeah I got looking at Yumeya custom spools and they provided the diameter and stroke measurements for the 2000 and 2500 spools, and there's a difference between the two. I don't know why I thought a 2500 spool would fit a C2000. I want something with a bit more line capacity, and all the JDM Stradics have shallow spools. I found a Yumeya custom spool C2000 F6, which has more capacity, but it's a bit pricey. It fits a 18-19 Stella, 19 Stradic and 19 Vanquish. But spending 100 bucks plus shipping for a spool, I'd be just as far ahead to buy a 2500 Stradic domestic and be done with it. I have the 19 Stradic, but this is handy. Where did you pull this part list from?
  4. I imported a Shimano Stradic FL C2000SHG for drop-shotting smallies. It does the job really nice. However I was wondering if I could buy a 2500 spool for it. I'd like to do some finesse swimbaiting 3 inch spark shads, and I don't really want to buy another spinning reel. I'd rather just swap spools back and forth. I know a Shimano C2000 is a 1000 size reel body with a 2000 sized spool. Curious if anyone has tried putting a 2500 sized spool on a C2000 reel before.
  5. I have a Lews Hypermag and a 7'1 M/F St Croix Legend Tournament Bass. LTB is tip heavy, but the sensitivity is so much better then a Tatula Elite, that it's worth it to me. Paired with a Hypermag, the combo is feather light, and the hypermag casts 1/8th ned rigs if I want it to.
  6. I picked up a Curado 200k last year on sale. Smoothest retrieve I've ever felt, but the casting was annoying on lighter baits and anything that could stall, like a chatterbait. I picked up a Scorpion MGL from Japan this year, because Curado K MGLs are about a hundred dollars more here in Canada, and was surprised to find out when I got it that it's literally just a Curado K with an MGL spool and a paint scheme, but it casts so much more controlled. So I ordered a replacement Scorpion MGL spool from Japan, and popped it in my Curado K. It now casts lighter baits flawlessly. I was casting chatterbaits in to the wind without a problem, whereas before I'd have to put all the brakes on and still pick out backlashes. I googled and I couldn't find anyone definitively confirming, so for anyone with a Curado K, a Scorpion MGL spool will 100% work with your Curado K, and it will make the reel a load easier to cast. If you don't have a Curado K, then just get a Curado K MGL or a Scorpion MGL.
  7. Picking fishing back up for the first time since i was a kid and have been going a little crazy buying setups. I just bought what was on sale or where I could find a deal, so i'm trying to piece them together and could use some advice. Basically if I found a price screw up on Amazon, i'd buy it. So I was more focused on price then getting setups that matched each other. Lews Hypermag reel with an old style shimano compre worm/jig rod with the black eva handle. 6'8 medium/extra fast. I have 40 pound power pro braid. Lews American Hero Camo baitcast with a Berkley lightning rod. 2 piece 6'6 medium/moderate fast. 10 lb Berkley big game mono. Daiwa Fuego CT baitcast with a Berkley lightning rod. 2 piece 7' medium/moderate fast. 10 lb Berkley big game mono. Lews Laser SSG 300 series spinning rod/reel combo. 2 piece 6'6 medium/fast. 10 lb Berkley big game mono. I mostly fish Senko's and tube jigs, so i've been using the hypermag/shimano as my senko/tube rod. Been using the American hero and 6'6 berkley rod as my top water rod. Choppo/Poppers. Been using the Fuego and 7' berkley rod as my square bill/lipless and jerkbait rod. And been using the Laser SSG as my ned rig rod. Any advice on if i should switch rod/reel combos around or change up line?
