  1. Just seeing Ultegras for $100ish ... great deal! I'd definitely jump on that if I needed/wanted one
  2. I would make one of those a MH/M or H/M for deep cranks
  3. A tiny bit past hand tight with retainer over the top ... sounds like you dont have the retainer?
  4. I have an UL that is very whippy and I purchased it exclusively to fish the real ultralight stuff like micro spoons and trout magnets without a float. Its a blast catching trout and panfish and I've even caught some decent bass on it. The whippiness does help with casting, but I believe its more beneficial in protecting the light line you are fishing with. Your problem could also be that you're afraid to load the rod properly. I know when I first fished my UL, something about bending it all the way to the butt section felt wrong and I was afraid I would snap it. Once I got over that fear all was good.
  5. Daiwa Japan Gekkabijin Ajing Jighead Sharp is an understatement.
  6. Put it in the wife's "i need fishing line to hang stuff up" bin
  7. Are you currently having issues with break offs or anything? I don't see what the problem is tbh
  8. If local, give it a week and make the same offer. Sometimes we get caught up and create this false sense of urgency for ourselves. Youre likely one of few if not the only person interested in that reel at the moment. If its not local I'd pass
  9. I don't believe the Miravel is worm drive. The lowest priced worm drive is the smaller spheros and would be my USDM pick for around $100. https://fishshop.shimano.com/collections/mirc3000hg
  10. troutmagnet man > iFish ... just saying
  11. Upgrade to carbon and pick up some cals drag grease while youre at it. I would honestly also take some fine sandpaper to the washers to clean those up a bit.
  12. Go JDM and get a nice area trout rod. I fish a couple of Major Craft rods for weightless (no added weight) trout magnets and small spoons, and they perform really well. Just keep in mind you're probably going to want a decent reel and some premium line to go along with it.
  13. Not familiar with that particular reel, but im guessing you open it, slide the side plate up and will find your adjustments either on the spool itself or on the side plate? It looks familiar to a reel I had which had the adjustment thingamajig attached to the spool.
  14. The company has the final say. If they aren't giving pushback, I'd say replacement costs may be baked in to price already.
  15. Do that first, then get some Daiwa Ajing jig hooks and never set another hook in your life.
  16. I for one am happy to see someone embracing Mexican culture
  17. Those Rhino Tough combos were built well. I had a couple that I bought for catfishing but, being my only combos, got used for everything including catching decent sized redfish in the salt. Never an issue until the thumb button gave away.
  18. I think this is what makes it more difficult. I'd probably send 5 off and keep 1 (or any identical reels) to work on and work on that one and only that one until i was VERY comfortable with it. Forget spinning though until you have a good handle on casting.
  19. What alternate universe is this? I figured you'd be all over this Made in USA rod?
  20. - Tubes - Weightless worms - Inline Spinners - Smaller hard body jerkbaits (rapalas)
  21. lunch box/cooler provided by work
  22. I'm willing to try it, not willing to change it. Example, I tied the fish-n-fool and it was a great knot used it a couple of times but I never committed it to muscle memory and after going a short while without fishing, it was back to my old regular knots. 10,000 hours to perfect a skill right? Well it might not be hours but I'd wager to say I've tied at about half that many palomars and trilene knots.
  23. but what about your pinion bearing??
