  1. Is this what I should expect? This is the battery I purchased it is not an automotive battery. Odyssey Battery Performance 31M925 Group Size 31 Dual Purpose Deep Cycle Marine Battery Overlooked this answer sorry. The battery was charged fully both times. By a dual pro trio 15 amp per bank. when I brought it back to the house it charged very quickly. So the battery I mentioned above, how many cranking amps will it have at half charge? I was fishing for around 3 hours without starting the engine. The warning came from my boat not my fish finder. I'm beginning to wonder if something is wired wrong or if my expectations are too high...
  2. Ok, I need to know how long I can fish without starting the big motor to charge my battery. I have a cx18ss powered by an ultrex 80. This does fine for as long as I have ever fished never had a problem. I have a 150 Merc four stroke and 2 graphs hooked to the starting battery. The other day I was fishing and found a good hole and fished for quite some time. I have my mega 360, helix 9 at the bow, and helix 8 at the graph running for this entire time. I go to start the big battery and leave and it won't crank. I get home on the ultrex and start looking at the batteries. The boat is only a year old and haven't paid attention to what the dealer put in. Come to find out I'm running a deka group 27 for my graphs and big engine. No wonder it didn't start. So I go to AutoZone, spend nearly 500 dollars on a group 31 odyssey performance. Figure I'm set. Go out today and while the battery still did have enough to turn it over, I got a warning to check the battery voltage. All this just to ask... How long should I be able to sit and fish with those two graphs on and the mega 360?
  3. I have a similar lake and similar problems. One of the most recent added problems is all of the grass, (milfoil) is brown and dead in the middle of summer. I'm guessing they sprayed it? What do I do now?
  4. -upgrading boats from canoe to jon boat to 18 ft bass boat -spotlock -livescope -good gear and the money for it (rods, reels, hooks, line, etc...) -TIME ON THE WATER
  5. THIS is awesome! Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  6. So, how? Dropping points along the whole line? Just the points? Working it on spot lock from 60 ft out? What do you do with your electronics?
  7. Very helpful....
  8. Assuming all of the weedline is submerged, how do you determine where these "changes" are? same question here
  9. Can someone break down the process they use to fish weedlines? Like graphing, marking, what to look for, best or favorite baits, and any other tidbits.
  10. Thanks for all the help fellas. So, I've tried some of the advice here and now I'm catching less fish with the same amount of keepers. I'm starting to think that it may be my proficiency with the weedline. Is there any advice on how to go about picking, graphing, marking, and finally fishing the outside weed edge?
  11. When you say 2 spots, start at what I would think is the best spot then move after thoroughly fishing it for an hour and a half?
  12. Thank you for all the replies. So a wacky rig stick bait seems to be a common response. Should I weight this? I feel like we may be working too slow yet one of the comments was to slow down and be methodical in one area. I have picked up spinnerbaits, swim jigs, t-rigged worms, walking baits, frogs, flukes, and a little bit of everything. I just haven't had any success on anything other than the ned and dropshot. So that's what I find in my hand.
  13. I'm in a club tourney weekly and I'm struggling to catch 5 keepers. Here's the broad overview: Location: lower michigan Lakes: natural and weedy <500 acres Time: 3 hours 6pm-9pm Keepers: 14 inches Winning weights: 10-13 lbs Number of boats: 15-25 I have a partner with limited fishing knowledge that relies on me to put us on fish and even what baits to use and how to use them. We have only caught 5 keepers one time out of the first 4 tourneys. My strategy started with us covering a lot of water and bouncing from one spot to another. After only catching one fish like that, decided to start focusing on 2 or 3 spots only. I try to prefish the lake and find 2 or 3 spots where I think we can catch fish. Most of these spots are between 10 and 15 feet deep. The lakes are generally not deeper than 25 feet. I have my partner using the ned rig and he is gaining confidence in it. I too have been using the ned rig or drop shot most of the time. These are my confidence baits and we are catching lots of fish just not the right size. So with this information, what should I change in our strategy in order to catch 5 keepers consistently. I believe if we can just catch 5 keepers we would have a chance at the money.
  14. Intentions for next year: 40lb braid for froggin 40lb braid to 12lb fc for texas rigs, paddle tails, spinnerbaits, jigs 40lb braid to 12lb mono for topwaters 15lb braid to 8lb fc for cranks, jerkbaits, Ned rigs, drop shots All tied with Alberto knot which is easy to tie. These are all things that I've been doing successfully for the last couple of years except for the braid to leader for cranking and jerking. Is anyone familiar with doing this? Any opinions on it? Also looking at learning the infamous fg knot. Any opinions on that?
  15. I've been reading threads and never responded to any but here goes, as in all of these responses my first "technique" isn't listed. What got me into bass fishing was actually catching the bait before fishing. Live frogs was the main bait my dad and I would use. You would have to sneak up behind the frog in your waders and grab him up. Every time I caught a leopard frog with bright green color I knew for sure he was going to turn into a good fight of a largemouth. I caught my own nightcrawlers and trapped minnows too but the live frogs was where it was at, hooked through the lips and let them do the work. Every now and then you'd have to squeeze the air out of them to get them to swimming right again. Anyone else ever do this?
