  1. This video made me smile, laugh and most of all jealous! This kid pulls out a hog, what a catch. Happy for this kid. When is it my turn to get one like this?! https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/10/boy-catches-personal-best-bass-adorable-release/amp
  2. So I had a bag of new plastic trailers and I took off a stick style swimbait, a senko w a paddle tail, and threw it in the bag with the trailers and when I went to open it the swimbait like melted some of the trailers and they all got ruined and stuck together. The swimbait kinda shriveled up and got kinda hard. This happen to anyone else, and why did this occur? Don’t want to ruin anymore new baits in the future
  3. Ok cool then I’ve been doing it right last few days TY
  4. Dang the video in that thread is no longer available
  5. So I bought one off eBay and it showed up, 8” so either I made a mistake or they neglected to post it as saltwater. This is way too big for largemouth fishing right? I realistically aim for avg 5-6lbs but gladly I’ll take anything bigger. Is this useless for me and should I return for the smaller 5.5” model? That’s what I expected I think when ordering.
  6. Ok cool, I’m still a bit thrown by how the brake system works to prevent backlash, would someone mind explaining how it works and if I should start at 21 setting or 0 , I think to start I tried 21 but I couldn’t cast far so I put it in the middle. I’m able to cast far now but now but about 1 in 10 casts I get backlash either off the bat, mid or end of cast
  7. So I have been learning my new baitcast setup and have casting down but now I want to know how to flip/ pitch in those spots from the bank that have limiting room due to tree branch crowding. I've done the setup where I adjust the reel to let the bait fall and hit the ground where the spool stops. Now when I wasn't to flip/pitch how do I set that up? Just loosen the mag force/spool tension? All help is needed/appreciated.

  9. My reel has a drag knob and a fighting drag switch thing; what are the differences and when are they used etc?
  10. as everyone has stated already, the classic Rapala perch is
  11. yeah ive done all that, i think its actually just a iphone google browser app thats causing the issue.
  12. Their website is hands down terrible, I click the link you supplied and it goes to the Rapala home page, so frustrating
  13. For the life of me I can not locate the new xrap peto swimbait on their website for purchase, am I missing something? Does anyone have a link to where I can buy the xrap peto, and the regular/larger size? Also is this swimbait for pike/musky only? it appears that all info on it indicates that is the case but I’m not 100% on that. I need to purchase some high quality swimbaits for bass so any reccos are also appreciated. Thanks
  14. Has anyone any experience with these baits? The Citizen swimbait is on my radar just wondering if any of y'all are customers and what your opinion/luck has been with these?
  15. Does anyone here fish in any tournaments in CT? I've been thinking about getting into some tournament fishing but don't know a thing about it. Does anyone here fish in any CT tournaments or can someone please give me some general info on how to get into this realm? Thanks
  16. I am getting back into fishing after a 10yr hiatus living in NYC. I moved back to Central CT and dont have any buddies around me that fish so I figured I would see if there is anyone on the forum that lives in Central CT as well and would want to meet up sometime to do some fishing? I also have a house in Dutchess County NY( Poughkeepsie area) that I stay at on the weekends so if there is anyone in that area that would want to link up for some fishing let me know. I mostly fish from shore but I also have a buddy who has a boat slip at Twin Lakes so i occasionally get to get out on the boat there and fish. If you meet the criteria and have a boat and would want to get together I would certainly help with expenses (gas, food etc) in exchange for getting onboard with ya. Look forward to hearing from ya!
  17. I have no qualms about buying used should it be near excellent condition or a substantial price savings. I'll have to look on the for sale forum I totally didn't even think of that lol thanks! If anyone reading has something they want to part with DM me in case I miss it in the FS forum. I use a LH reel also.
  18. So I am rekindling my love for bass fishing after being out of the game for about 10yrs due to living in NYC. Now that I have more access to lakes and ponds and get fishing much more often I desperately need to upgrade my gear. I have been using a rod and reel I came across at my house and no idea where it came from. Its either an ultralight or trout rod with a crappy shimano spinning reel. While fighting bass on it is fun, its not functional and I feel with proper gear I can improve my catches. I have never used a bait caster but I want more of a challenge and something different. I did some shopping and put together a set up my budget can allow for. I was hoping some of you could weigh in on this set up and let me know if this is something I should go for. Now most people would probably say get some beginner bait casting gear but I want something I can 'grow' into so to speak so I dont have to buy a new set up next year or whatever. I am looking to spend under $150 so this is what I found. -Rod Tackle Warehouse has a Daiwa Aird X Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy for $54.99 -Reel Its between a Daiwa CR 80 & an Abu Garcia Black Max. Tackle Warehouse prices the AbuGarcia at $49.99 but found it online for $39.99. The Daiwa is $79.99 but I have found it elsewhere on the internet for $49.99 I know the AbuGarcia has a lower gear ratio but a higher drag lb rating. What are your 'expert' opinions on this setup? The price difference between the two is only $10 so which have yall have better experience with and do you have any recommendations on something better that's out there that I may not know of? This goes for the rod as well but it appears from my searching that this is a solid rod at a solid price point. I could have a budget of $150 but would prefer to keep it as close to $100 as I can. I checked out the thread for the 'best $100 or less combo' however I still am unsure. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Also I primarily fish soft plastic but once I graduate to a bait cast setup I would like to begin to try and expand my bait bag. I would even then still probably favor soft plastic but I will absolutely still expand my bag of tricks. I’ve never had any success with say crankbaits, spinnerbait or jigs but I have a feeling that it may be in part due to the current cheap setup I have.
