  1. Wow! I think I just put in my worst event ever. 621 points so far…
  2. Looking at these so far, but as usual, I’ll end up changing the day before the tourney Walters Palaniuk Schmitt Gross Smith
  3. That screen on the front of his boat is huge!
  4. I’d say keep throwing whatever you’re really enjoying at the moment. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try something new; I just wouldn’t worry about feeling obliged to learn and invest in a new technique or bait because of a fear that you’re missing out on fish or somehow falling behind in the bass fishing curriculum 😆. After more time on the water/experience, you’ll come across situations and tell yourself “I wish I had a bait/technique that can do xyz or be presented in xyz manner”. With a general knowledge of bass fishing tactics you’ll have heard about a technique that can maybe help you out in that situation. Like picking the right tool for a job. Then, you can decide maybe it’s finally time to learn that tactic. Over the past two seasons, I’ve really learned to simplify things and not overthink it. As a beginner, I also had analysis paralysis so I can relate to how you’re feeling right now. Hope this helps, tight lines!
  5. Walleye and pike which are the usual by-catch anyway. I also like to fish for sturgeon, catfish, and carp and I do so often.
  6. Can't wait for it to get started!
  7. Nothing surprising for me this year. 1) Z-Man TRD on 1/16-1/8 jighead 2) Screamin Eagle Spinnerbait 1/2 and 3/4 3) Beaver style bait on a swinghead, usually a rage bug It wasn't the most productive year for me as I did not get to fish as much as I had hoped, and when I did, it was more of a multispecies affair.
  8. Like others said, it seems like the 1/8 oz tubes may be a problem. A 1/8 oz tube does sound a little light for the M rods in my arsenal but I think you'll be fine if you go with something rated 1/4-3/4oz. Remember that a 3/8 oz spinnerbait likely weighs closer to 5/8 oz after all the components are taken into account.
  9. Bingo. I used to be that person, always needed the newest tackle but I realized it was just an ‘addiction’ to spending money. As you mentioned, you don’t need a 20ft bass boat to get out there. Same way I didn’t need hundreds of lures/baits or dozens of rods.
  10. Well that was a fun season! Was a great time playing with you all and congrats to @lmoore!
  11. Walters Cory Johnston Gussy Foutz Pipkens
  12. No longer in first! Finally had a bad tournament. @lmoore is now in first!
  13. Excited for this one. Schmitt Feider Felix Gross Wetherell
  14. I'd say either common carp or gar if they are in your lake. I usually don't see them in huge groups but I have seen groups of 3-4 fish swim at the surface. I could be wrong considering you hear 'hundreds', that part is throwing me off a little
  15. Don’t think anyone could have deserved it more than Brock. He’s been so close so many times, nice to see him win. Also, my good season continues, sitting at 99.5th percentile.
  16. I think it was just a glitch. I can see my team now
  17. Mono mainly because I have so much of it that I need to burn through it somehow. Also, I don't like the electrical tape hack cause I can never get to lay it evenly around the spool. Always manages to crease or something somewhere. I only put 50-70 yards of braid on my spinning reels.
  18. Went with some safe picks for this event Cobb Walters Cherry Palaniuk Mullins
  19. My uncle mounted a 20+” smallmouth he caught back in the day on a live frog . It was a small crystal clear river somewhere in rural Ontario. The story is pretty good, my dad netted the fish! Bass are opportunistic so why wouldn’t a smb eat a frog?
  20. I like Facebook marketplace. Just about the only place I sell stuff now.
  21. Pretty bad, especially since I'm usually estimating after getting jacked up about a big/surprise catch.
  22. What kind of guide fishes the front of the boat?
  23. Swim Jig is a bigger, bulkier profile for sure. I’d use it when you’re looking for a big bite and the fish are already pretty active. I also use a swim jig in places a bare jighead would struggle to come through (through cover) so that’s another thing to consider. Use the swimbait on a jighead in open water areas or when the fish are more skittish.
  24. Wishing you a good recovery!
  25. I say it depends on your goal and position so far in fantasy fishing. Maybe I’m thinking way too hard about this but here’s my logic. If you’re trying to finish high in the overall, therefore maintain an already high percentile, I’d probably pick Bryan New if he was that highly owned. You don’t want 70% of the players to gain on you if he ends up having a good tournament. On the other side, if you’re already doing pretty poorly in fantasy fishing overall then why not take a risk on someone with a lower ownership. By picking Bryan new, you’d only potentially gain on 30% of players for that bucket. And stay level with the other 70% I also look at who else I picked for my team. If I already have a lot of highly owned anglers then I wouldn’t mind one long-shot pick.
