  1. @PaulVE64 Leader knot is Alberto. Double Palomar for Hook/ bait with fluorocarbon.
  2. 90% of the water I fish is gin clear so all my spinning has 15lb braid to a 6 foot flouro leader, 8-12lb sunline sniper. All casting gear is straight braid.
  3. Amazing that this thread has gone nowhere regarding ethanol fuel. It's your motor, do as you please. I've seen the effects of ethenol in 2/4 stroke engines but maybe I'm imagining something...... crazy.
  4. We really don't have extreme humidity here but man, basic training in fort McClellan Alabama in August was brutal. Was born in Georgia, I like warm 🥵
  5. I could fish a lifetime on just what's on the boat, hooks, weights, hard plastics and soft baits. That much more is stored in the lower part of a gun cabinet. I have no explanation but will give it away when I get to old to fish, if possible.
  6. What I've observed is Loons are just as efficient as cormorants at catching fish,we have both. Every time I see either, I know I'm gonna get out fished and they don't practice catch and release. That said, we have a family owned 13 acre lake that was full of Bass and Crappie but during last year's drought, Otters left nothing behind.
  7. Last year in early May I fished Sandy and Philpott, spent a week. Sandy was very stained but did ok on spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits and Dark colored jigs. Water temps were 62* and I mainly fished the upper section of Sandy River. Philpott was gin clear and I could physically see bass on beds. Heading back down again for a week, early May again. Good luck and sorry I couldn't give a current report.
  8. We're getting the most rain we've had in years here I western VA but we've had mild temperatures as well for early March.
  9. My wife also only has (1) rod, it's the one I hand her, usually rigged with a beetle spin or nightcrawler.......she actually does well.
  10. It's a reaction bait where I believe the blade choice may be of more importance, slow vs fast. That said, I throw mostly bluegill for LM and white for SM........Our water is very clear.
  11. That's good criteria. My long time fishing partner ( 40+ yrs ) Has greatly declined since he retired. He's always late and never chips in on fuel....... but does have a great attitude.
  12. I'll take 95* over 10* any day. During the hot months while fishing I simply take a dive to cool off.
  13. Wind is the biggest factor on what size Jig I throw, gotta feel it. Much prefer a 1/8 - 1/4 oz swim but if the wind is up, I go to 1/2
  14. I get the picking but Tyson in his prime was quite the force, perhaps the most feared but to his defense, we ate pig ears growing up.
  15. Mom and Dad were huge boxing fans, I still remember watching Ali vs Frazier. This bout bout between Tyson and Paul ain't a fight, just entertainment. BUT there's a chance someone could get bit, you got your listening ears on ? 😁
  16. Zoom flukes Skip very well.
  17. I have 14 combo's on the boat and there are many occasions that (1) catches all the fish for a given day. If a certain technique is working, there is no need to reach for something else. BUT I throw so many different baits, can't imagine a magnum fluke with a 5.0 hook on a medium light rod.
  18. Scroll down for the 2nd pic...... absolute tank.
  19. I'm guessing geographic location plays a roll but the lakes I fish it's slow until the water temps hit 50 for LM bass. My definition of slow is 1 fish for every 4 hrs of fishing.
  20. Grew up on a farm so making hay all summer was my 1st paying job $1.50 per hour. 😁 When I got older but still in highschool, worked in an orchard for 2 summers. After I got my driver's license I became a roofer and painted barn roofs on the side. 1982 went into the Army until 1988. After returning home, worked on a dairy farm for 1 year. Then for the following 19 years was a cabinet maker. The next 15 years was an industrial crane operator / mechanic and also had a small chainsaw shop in garage when I had time. Been married 38 years and been retired for 4 years. Now all I do is fish 👍
  21. Yes, slumps this time of year are mainly due to cold water. I've caught 1 bass in the last 10 hrs of fishing due to cold water. If you're still slumping in May then take up gulf 😂. Seriously though, don't watch YouTube videos where they catch a bass every cast breaking through ice on a lipless..... unrealistic.
  22. A bad contract can set a team back for years. Russ is a great guy but his success came mostly from an excellent defensive unit " the legion of boom " oh and " beast mode" ........ great team though. I don't see Denver contending for a while.
  23. Praying for all those that are suffering this loss.
