  1. In my experience you should easily expect 3 years from just about any deep cycle battery, twice that. Repetitive deep discharge is what you want to avoid.
  2. I'd say every fish I catch spends 15 seconds or less out of water. Some days I simply don't feel like taking pics and others I do. Scales and gripper on the boat but never get used. @A-Jay I've watched your videos and the current procedure " deal " will be hard to improve apon.
  3. Person up front picks up the active fish. Imo As mentioned, if in the back don't throw the exact same bait.
  4. Wife and I are camping so I went back out after lunch and 5 more fell victim to the spinnerbait........done for the day.
  5. Fished a flooded lake this morning, very cloudy water except tight against the bank. So I drug the bank with the little boat and casted parallel. Caught 10 in a little over an hour in the flooded grass throwing a bluegill colored spinnerbait Ooops a duplicate 🙄
  6. Welcome to Bass resources.
  7. I think of my fishing companion when working a stretch of bank and we say " look at this structure coming up, you take the left and I'll take the right " ....... That's isolated structure, something obvious that you know is holding fish and not amongst other structure/cover. Further move, I find wood to be the most sought out cover for LM bass, isolated or not.
  8. I went from Bass boats to Coleman Crawdads, fishing kayaks, bass raider, back to a Bass boat. Still use a Bass Raider on small lakes when the wife and I go camping. A bass boat is physically much easier than any, but storage is the biggest consideration. Imo I personally would not own a bass boat if I couldn't get it in the garage, that simple.
  9. It's not the norm. Imo I've thrown the exact same spinnerbait for the last 3 years. Probably the least lost bait I throw and an all-time favorite.
  10. Blow down is a tree / wood and the very best largemouth cover where I fish.
  11. We've had nothing but rain and wind but surprisingly saw a 90 % eclipse. This is an off fishing prespawn, we're in the midst of building a hunting cabin that will consume a few weeks.
  12. Lots of valuable information covered, good read. Only thing I could possibly add if I missed it is plenty of water and snacks. Education is something of importance, being well rehearsed with your equipment. I failed miserably after purchasing a new boat " embarrassing " . Spent 3 days on a top ranked bass fishery running 2 graphs daily. Charged the batteries nightly but didn't realize I only had a 2 bank charger only charging a 2 battery 24 volt system. 4 miles from the ramp the motor wouldn't turn over and luckily had a rope to pull start. So yes, know your equipment.
  13. Lakes that we fish many times a year have dead zones and active zones consistently. I really have no explanation but we've learned to skip those unproductive areas and only focus on the areas that produce fish even though they look enticing.
  14. Swim jigs, spinnerbaits, speed craws and Zoom lizards.
  15. I've seen video of smallmouth expelling the claws before swallowing. I've also seen Crawfish lose a claw, sometimes both during molting.
  16. Almost impossible to throw a Mepps spinner and not catch something.
  17. Here in the western part of Virginia we've had several nights in the 30's and lots of rain. Will finally get out Thursday.
  18. I remember 2017 but Virginia isn't going to see a total eclipse until 2052......I won't need glasses 🤓
  19. Pisces I got it. BUT you do realize you can " identify " as a fish and subsequently have to be treated as such. 😁
  20. Welcome to the forum
  21. For budget reels , hard to beat Okuma.
  22. I carry a total of 15 reels on the boat, a severe backlash gets set aside. But as a braid user, most come out in minutes, just make sure line wasn't compromised, weakened.

    Angry Bass

I believe bigger bass can get angry. I read a book by Roland Martin over 40 years ago where he claimed that repeatedly casting an annoying bait like a rattle trap at a bass can trigger a bite out of anger. I proved his theory correct on our farm pond by dragging a rattle trap by this stump that always held a good fish. It was over a dozen cast when this fish erupted on it and was actually biting my finger while unhooking.
  24. Yes, good post. Getting skunked is definitely not the worst thing a person can go through, happens to me every year. Tenacity is effected by expectation. Example would be: Launch the boat in February, water temps low 40's , my expectation is to have a very slow day if not a skunk........my level of tenacity decreases as the day goes on. Now, if I'm on a good body of water with favorable conditions, I'm not quitting until I catch a fish.
