Bought several dark Colorado bladed spinnerbaits on clearance which make the claim " designed for night fishing ".
Never considered them for day use.
I do however throw spinnerbaits quite often and it's always white and always willow.
I've always worked these baits high in the water column and fairly aggressive and find to many other effective baits vs slow rolling spinnerbaits at depth.
Perhaps it's time to give these dust collectors a try, thanks.
I'd say that research is more based on theory.
Timed tested colors by actual fisherman would be of more interest to me.
I admit, I don't stray far from but a very few colors and white has been a primary color for decades, especially SM.
I recently spent the day with a friend on his Triton at lake Anna " 13000 acre " and can say with confidence......I wasn't to fond of running 70mph.
It felt way to fast for my comfort zone.
He had a 200 hp Yamaha pegged moving from spot to spot.
Give me my boat with 40lb thrust. Lol
As long as you've been using non ethanol fuel you should be fine. Imo
BUT, I'm an advocate of not letting any engine sit for months on end without running......15 minutes would be adequate " in water ".
I fish mainly clear bodies of water so site fishing for beds is an effective way to land some good fish during spawn but some reservations doing so.
I'm one of those that have a great deal of respect for the fish I'm catching, or trying so can't help but to feel a little guilty dropping a bait in a bed but it is a great time to land really good fish.
The hardest season around here to catch fish is winter by far.....especially when your sit'n around the woodstove.
I can't say that it's reached the devastation stage as A-Jay but as an older retired fellow.....it consumes pretty much 7 months a year.
I preload the boat the night before and always the first one on the water, always. Lol
I've already restocked the ole tackle box, charged the boat battery and hung up the the fishing rods.......I never service them. Lol
I cut wood most of the winter and help my brother with the sawmill but will admit......can't wait til spring as nothing I'd rather do then bass fish.
Jerkbaits are definitely one of my confidence baits, love throwing em'.
I have no problem with the desired darting action with my 6'6 or 7' med Fenwicks whether it be floating, suspending or slow sinking.
My owners manual says to run 89 octane in my truck.....runs great on 87. Lol
Would love to join in on the fun but this is the only forum that says " pics to big " lol.
Oh well, caught a 4.9 today on drop shot Roboworm " Aaron's magic ".
Then later went to my treestand and shot this...........wait, pic to big.
Maybe if I got a smaller phone ???. Lol
I've got so many that I really like.
Lews speed stick " favorite "
Shimano and Diawa both make quality rods that have proven durable.
Budget rod would be lightning or Fenwick silver Hawk.
Joe, I only use FC as a leader for the reason you mention.
As soon as I start trusting a reel "spin" full of Floro.....it cheats on me.
Oh, and I fish 3-4 days a week.
Reading various threads on this site, I see where members are striping all reels of line for winter storage.
Is that due to line memory, like floro?
Just good common practice ?
Once a year thing ?
I'm a braid guy and re-tie often but never stripped my reels for winter storage.....just curious.
Welcome to a great site.
I too was in a similar situation as you " except divorce " and got marred in all the new tackle, techniques and lure specific rods and reels.
I'm starting to get it figured out, you will too.
