  1. It's not a preferred method for what I'm doing this time of year but don't see myself abandoning the Ned for what it does when I do throw it.
  2. Glad you could share that unfortunate experience. Perhaps you could drag the area your baitcaster fell in.....on a calm day. Fishing yesterday was extremely frustrating from a kayak as the high winds elimate the fun factor and about everything I had tied on. Lol Better days ahead.
  3. I've been a pork trailer advocate for MANY years......bucktail is what we called our jigs back in the 70's for smallmouth. Still have some uncle Josh.
  4. You can stand but wouldn't consider it " fairly easy " . They do however make a standup bar for it .
  5. Yes, had a nightmare on the river about 20 yrs ago. It was a planned 2 day trip through some tremendous SM water, had our camping gear. A trip we've done many times. One bad spot where we go under a low water bridge in swift current had a large tree root laying sideways just on the other side of bridge. We ducked to go under bridge and before we could get paddles in the water we slam this huge root. Front of boat rides straight up the wall created by root and boat flips backwards on top of us. We lost many Shimano reels, phones , cameras and all tackle. We eventually caught up to some of our camping gear which was soaked and useless. My friend ripped his leg open and required stitches. I now own dry bags and tie-downs.
  6. Backpacking above the dense fog at 4100 ft.
  7. I've posted on several threads regarding wind and cringe everytime. Lol Have a high tolerance for whatever life throws my way and not much irritates me.....Except fishing in the wind. Can't really put a finger on it and may need professional help " wind anonymous " don't know but will prematurely abort if wind picks up every time.
  8. Good action yesterday but nothing big. 5 on Jerkbait and this one on a Buzzard.
  9. Nice
  10. Robo 4" ST in Aaron's magic and morning Dawn.
  11. Awesome setup and what better way to travel......Bass boat and a Lance. Thanks
  12. All ramps remain open locally and fish bite is on. BUT, a problem exists....... Are small local lakes are loaded up with fisherman, kayaks, dogs swimming. The trails that wrap the various lakes I've been fishing is seeing heavy travel via mtnbiking and hiking and all during the middle of the week. People simply want to get out.
  13. My confidence baits change with the seasons. Definitely Jerkbaits early. Spinnerbaits year around. Plastic worms, Neko , drop shot and Neds are also winners. Frogs in the thick.
  14. Very true. I've always did my own vehicle maintenance and speaking of push mowers that won't start......it's always " usually " a rusted flywheel or bent timing key from hitting a rock or stump. Oh, giving away my age. My youngest daughters boyfriend doesn't own a single tool, no lie.
  15. 5-10 here tomorrow and I'll be out there. Oh and 65*.
  16. I don't carry much......but a lot of what I do carry. Lol
  17. I heard this morning that hysteria is closing in on the virus as the bigger issue. We haven't hit bottom yet but strongly believe mid summer will see us trending upward. Staying positive is much better for our emotional well being vs fear and panic. Remember Y2K ? I do.....fear displayed in epic proportions. Keep safe.

    Red baits

Use a lot of soft plastics with red flake, like'm. Spinnerbaits with partial red skirt, like also.....white spinnerbaits that is.
  19. Visited my oldest daughter in San Diego and was amazed at the significantly higher fuel prices.
  20. Glenn, just wanted to post this event today, some perspective maybe. 26 yr old son of one of my wife's employees was randomly tested for his job and tested positive. In his own words" I thought I had a cold " and required no medical treatment, hmmmm He is going to stay in the families RV for a while.
  21. Ha ha, simple approach but very effective. For me it's been, keep it simple. I don't carry a large variety of tackle but rather a large inventory of baits that have proven themselves over and over. Just a couple days ago was catching fish consistently on a certain bait and never strayed from it the entire outing. Water temps are huge.
  22. Happy to hear you got your enthusiasm back. I got skunked a few weeks ago......BUT didn't want to be bothered by the pesky critters anyway.
