  1. Get a med action lightning rod from Walmart. I still have a couple that's 30 years old. You don't want those tiny flimsy rods for bass fishing. Then see if they have a Mitchell 300, your set.
  2. You may have a unique skill set but we will find you.
  3. I've found fishing less productive at home......everytime.
  4. Had it happen and won't tolerate an unwanted knot, cut and retie.
  5. I use Croch 1/4 for lakes, price is right.
  6. What if the cows are laying ?
  7. The problem in the east is significant drop in water temps, over 10* drop in our lakes.
  8. Bird

    Scent

Use to use it religiously many years ago, messy, got all over boat. Quit using it and bass never complained.
  9. Weather has way more influence on me than any table has on fish. That said, I've seen first hand the effect a full moon has on humans while at work. If Bass could only be so aggressive.
  10. We have 3 nights this week forecasted in the mid 30's. The migration of Loons in these parts is starting to make sense.
  11. Recently heard a report claiming this past April was the coolest in 15yrs. So, I must have been disgruntled 15 yrs ago, just can't remember. I just want to hang up the gloves and toboggan. Lol
  12. Get a Border collie and let him out at night. I'm surprised how many moles and shrews I discard.
  13. Not being able to see them surely adds to the pain of loosing them. Very sorry to hear and hope you and your wife find comfort.
  14. Maybe artificial, I'm not touching a Giant desert centipede. ?
  15. You did what most would do, I do it to. It's not selfish to protect the livelihood of the body of water we fish most often and social media can certainly make that challenging. Back in late February I had a surprisingly productive day on a local lake and wife posted pics on FB. Well it wasn't long before her post was bombarded with inquiries........" what lake ? What was he using? Does he mind if I tag along next time ?. She replied " he's practicing social distancing and declined to comment " lol Sharing your favorite spots with close respectable friends is one thing but not FB.
  16. Rural here where I live, town of 1068 people with no stop lights. Drove 80 miles a day to work.....when I worked.
  17. Yep, wild weather around here has put a damper on fishing. Heavy cold rains, high winds and well below normal temps. Our local lake temp went from low 60's back to 50* and I see 30's in upcoming forecast. I'd be curious what effect this will have on spawn.
  18. I fish a very high pressured lake occasionally, it's clear. Drop-shot, flukes and brush hogs is only way I get bit.
  19. I should quit posting in " wind " threads. Lol It leaves a false impression of my demeanor. Wind picks up over 10 - 15 mph and I closely resemble a 2 yr old having a tantrum.
  20. For the 1st quarter of the year, I wear out Jerkbaits, a personal favorite.
  21. Same thing everytime. Banana, yogurt, protein bar, trail mix and water.
  22. Happy you enjoyed your time on the water. We've had a considerable amount of cold rains here in the mountains of VA and water temps have plummeted, 50* yesterday when I checked and same lake was 61* 2 weeks ago......lock jaw. Lol
  23. Our lakes were up and heavily stained. Hope you enjoy.
  24. When I owned a glass boat, just 303.
  25. I really like flukes or assassins and duplicate the action of spooks in deeper water columns......zig zag. Nose hooked allows you to get away with lighter tackle and may increase hook-up ratio, seemingly. Prefer pearl in overcast AND smallmouth like them. I actually use a heavy action rod for Magnum with 5/0 hook or med heavy rod with 3/0 using standard fluke.
