  1. Never tried Super Slick but then again, never had a reason to stray from Power pro.
  2. Teal covered the tuning but I'll add this. If your throwing a spinnerbait out of tune " running sideways " it's not as appealing to the fish and you'll miss a few.
  3. Yes indeed but beautiful coloration.
  4. 1oz jigs, 50# braid. The video I was referring to surfaced on this site.
  5. Actually was the recommendation from a well known guide on Lake fork " video ". I tried it and stuck with it.
  6. I throw 1oz jigs with 7'2 heavy rod and half oz on MH moderate. Both reels are 9.3:1 which may aid in fish spitting hook, perhaps.
  7. Usually a spinnerbait is pretty hardy and you can retune them. Unless you keep flirting with PB bass.
  8. I too throw plastics on various rods. The term plastic covers a vast amount of baits that are optimized by different power rods. BUT I'd highly recommend you learn to throw many different plastic baits, bass never get tired of them.
  9. In clear water lakes, 25ft is common with 1/15 - 1/16 shrooms. In rivers for smallmouth, much shallower.

    That looks fantastic, chef worthy.
  11. The lightest I throw for bullet weight is 1/4 tungsten......any lighter feels finesse and makes me grab a shaky head.
  12. I always used the original bearing buddy for repeated drowning of the bearings.
  13. Your motor skills will adapt to either. Half of my baitcasters are L- handed and the other half R - handed and never really notice or have a preference as both are casted R - handed, if that makes sense.
  14. 90 % of my rod and reels consist of braid to Flouro leader. I fish gin clear water with vegetation but also like the abrasion resistant properties of Flouro in rocks and wood The leader also provides a good breaking point when hung. One piece of advice I'd give if you go this route, learn to tie a reputable leader knot.....prefer Alberto.
  15. It would be easier to buy a new rod of your color choice.
  16. I also use braid exclusively for top water baits and tie with a palomar.....20# braid for everything but frogs in slop.
  17. Brings back memories. Fishing all day is extremely exhausting, not sure why but is. Then come home and your girls want you to take them, always said yes. It's a very different kind of fishing but motivated by love. Good for you young man. Outstanding.

I married the 2nd coming of Rachael Ray, seriously, it's her passion so I'm limited to the grill using her homemade sauces. Can't complain but do enjoy slow smoking meats with various species of wood, favorite will always be apple but do use cherry, hickory, oak and old grape vines. Surprisingly though, my closest friends could be famous chefs as men really seem to take pride in cooking these days and most are outstanding as is my wife.
  19. Wow, he'd struggle in VA trying to be elusive. Lol
  20. The bottom line is, we all have different DNA and will always have opinions that are valid to some and not so much to others. Was born and raised in a small farming community where hunting and fishing was a very common activity. We ate every deer, squirrel , rabbit and Turkey we shot and kept every single fish we caught except mud cats. Lol Today at almost 60, I simply don't have the heart to kill a fish. I look at a bass as a beautiful skilled predator and don't require them as a food source. Very satisfying to watch them swim away and possibly caught another day. The wife on the other hand thinks every fish caught should end up in a frying pan. YES, you let her catch a fish and she's clutching it with both hands all the way to the kitchen. A great topic with no right or wrong.
  21. Every weedless hook should be accompanied by proper rod and texposed hook.
  22. Well there's that. I spend for rods but is my skin so callused that it becomes so difficult to differentiate between manufacturers after around the $200 mark, believe so.
  23. This is true but waiting at the ramps for outgoing and incoming boats delay ones ability to showcase this said talent. Lol
  24. I'd just get a 12v 100ah AGM and be done......you could run in all day.
  25. " highly pressured " ? Oboy. This has been my biggest struggle during this pandemic here in VA as the govener single handedly promoted fishing, no fishing license required. The Lakes I've fished for years are getting absolutely pounded daily and are actually getting fished out......yes seeing bass getting gutted at the ramps. Those getting cabin fever want to get out, completely understandable but us older guys wanting peice and quiet on the lakes in the middle of the week ain't getting it. Lol
