  1. Hmmm, don't recall the fish bleeding but that may be the only explanation.
  2. Not the fish as we all know it's a LM. I'm referring to this little red ball below the fish. It wasn't there when I landed the fish and I wasn't throwing C-rig. It just showed up in the photo.
  3. 2lbs is starting to get nice but will take anything on a slow day.
  4. Caught more fish with a spinnerbait than any other bait, have one tied on year around. In the waters I fish spinnerbaits are leaps and bounds ahead of chatterbaits. Give both a try.
  5. Weightless Senko is as simple as it gets, even catches fish.
  6. Haven't used mono in over 20 years. Much prefer braid to Flouro leader in just about every application where I fish. I do admit though, I become less open minded when something works which doesn't equate to the holy grail of fishing technique.
  7. The carp muddy up the shallows, still catching bass with spinnerbaits though. Gotta believe the bass don't pay much attention to them.
  8. It's very believable to me. I have certain baits that I believe has a chance every cast and shy away from proven baits that has proven nothing. Confidence baits instill confidence. I can throw a spinnerbait and Jerkbait on land and catch a fish but throw a chatterbait in amongst starving fish and they'd rather die than hit. Possibly unexplainable.
  9. The bait still catches with a leg missing, the Yamamoto creature does.
  10. Was fishing a remote river location that requires a 2 mile traverse down river to fish it, do it twice a year because hardly any pressure and LM are abundant. Requires 2 batteries fighting current on way back. Was throwing a spinnerbait and catching Smallmouth on the way down, using a new rod. Get down to the big water and lose 3 very nice LM in a row, couldn't believe it. They all jumped and spit the hook. Been throwing spinnerbaits for over 40 yrs and rarely lose a fish. My new Rod is a 6'10 MH moderate F Lews tournament TP1. Has a great feel and was going to dedicate it as a spinnerbait rod because I throw them year around. Perhaps a little less drag with straight 20# braid, don't know as these fish were taking line and KVD baits with razor hooks. Lose another fish I'm going with a 10ft medium action. Lol
  11. I've ordered 3 rods in the recent past via Amazon and all came heavily casted, no issues.
  12. Terrible for me personally. Everybody not working and VA not requiring a fishing license, lakes overrunning with boats and pollution. Every tree alongside the shore has a lure embedded and fishing line hanging. Lol Nope.
  13. Some fisherman simply don't want to be bothered, just the way it is. If it were me you approached, I'd give you the bait that I've been catching them on. Don't worry to much about it and continue being yourself regardless of interactions with others.
  14. I do a lot of things while fishing that I refuse to mention in a post. Lol Great fish and beautiful lure.
  15. That pretty well sums it up. As long as a bass can stay wet, he'll remain a predator.
  16. Trail cam pic of bobcat with breakfast, squirrel. Turkeys showed up later, smart. Those pics are last spring but thought I'd share them.
  17. Forgot to mention my 2nd favorite fish to eat behind flounder.....Whiting.
  18. I've had to change things up a bit just to get on the water......been going to bed earlier and sitting at the ramp at 5:00 am. 1st one on the water but when I left there was 37 boats " counted them " and 50 or so bank fishing. Actually caught quite a few at daylight on whopper plopper but ran out by boat traffic by 10. Um, this lake I'm referring to is 31 acres. ?
  19. I grew up on a river and a decent size farm pond and we ate fish liberally. The family fought over bluegill and Crappie, way better than LM. Imo We even ate fall fish and horny heads but boney. Personally.....give me flounder or red snapper.
  20. What's even worse is 3 of the 5 mentioned may sit in the boat all day as an ornament. When I start catching on a certain bait I become fixated. Lol
  21. Years ago Berkley Vanish was a nightmare on spinning gear, marginally better on casting. Fast forward.....you couldn't pry my fingers from a spool of Sunline sniper.
  22. Mine was touchy out of the box but once dialed in I can cast a country mile without worry of backlash.
  23. I'm loaded up ready to leave at O dark 30 in the the morning......tied on 5 rods in boat waiting is buzzbait - spinnerbait - fluke - Jerkbait - Senko. Jigs and brush hogs were considered but probably won't need to tie a knot tomorrow unless I hang. Lol
  24. Eagles and loons catching fish " loons never miss ", trolling up to a black bear swimming across river. Craziest though is the amount of fish we had jump in the boat while night fishing in shallow water one night.
