  1. Good rod choice for the money. Imo
  2. Man that's heavy 😳 Well said.
  3. I buy VMC crossover rings by the bushel, slight exaggeration but they save a ton of plastic. Several weeks ago in a lake full of Alabama bass, I caught 13 on a single flickShake worm. .006 for Senko .004 for finesse worms. Oh you'll need the tool to spread the rings.
  4. I recently booked a trip with a guide on lake Menderchuck that refuses to use PayPal.......he seemed trustworthy so gave him my card info. Idk
  5. It's NOT fiction ! I saw him launching on YouTube 😁
  6. Everything is already on the boat so my list of things to remember is small. 1. Throw water and snacks in the cooler 2. Do a walk around, check tire pressure and straps. 3. Put gas in the truck.
  7. Curious as well. Governor of Maine maybe 🤔
  8. My fishing partner is a diehard power fisherman, owns no soft plastics or bottom contact baits. I'll let him have his way and fish his style until I go a stretch without catching anything. That's when it's time to change, time to slow down " switch out ". There are so many considerations though. Sunny day, time of day, wind speed, type of cover, water clarity all play a role. I have to strategize with gin clear water in mind so as the sun rises the baits slow down and get smaller. Once I get to that point I'll stick with the bait the rest of the day. Nothing is in concrete regarding fishing.
  9. Having children, working 6 days a week, wife going back to school all slammed the door on fishing...... sold the boat. Retired, kids moved out, bought a boat and fish 3 days per week.
  10. Our coastal river systems are fantastic bass fisheries, highly rated year after year. Bass know more than we know and lay there eggs knowing they can tend the nest on low tide.
  11. I've never replaced a battery before it failed. The day I have to jump a vehicle is the day the battery gets replaced.
  12. Free public launch in all the lakes I've fished in VA / WV.
  13. Natural habitat 😀
  14. Ha Ha the first thing I did when I bought a new truck was disable auto everything. Lol Just felt weird not being in control of the vehicle, probably just me though. I want to operate the windshield wipers, headlights, cruise control, door locks. Now if I get into a wreck, I'm to blame. 😅
  15. Straight braid on all casting gear. Braid to fluorocarbon leader on all spinning.
  16. I lost a handle years ago but remember it only being a few bucks to replace. The square spindle keeps stress off the nut but I always check it while reeling in the boat. I can't wrap my head around the $60 for a handle.
  17. Hot water makes for slow fishing around here, August is the worst. We're still in June and the bite has been good.
  18. Welcome to the forum. Not so sure fishing is good for mental health though, drives me crazy sometimes. 🙂
  19. Yes, a product called Fluid Film. When I was working and running the interstate I bought the stuff by the case. It's very effective at preventing corrosion but it's a VERY messy job in the driveway.
  20. I've had (3) 5.3's......bullet proof.
  21. If you like Toyota you can get a Tacoma " better MPG "that has a towing capacity of nearly 7k. I like big trucks with massive towing capacity. My latest is an 2021 F250 with the Godzilla engine, 7.3 gas and has been problem free.
  22. I won't throw a hard Jerkbait on spinning gear but will throw a fluke around docks and overhanging trees with spinning..... they skip so well.
  23. I use the Spro bronze eye exclusively. Hookup ratio will never be mind boggling with a frog but let them suck on it awhile helps. Imo
  24. Nice 👍 Last week as I was launching the boat and talking with 2 locals about the fishing, I noticed quite a bit of grass and lilies along the shore line. Asked the 2 guys if there were any Snakehead in the lake. They said nope, nadda, not here.you just never know.
  25. If the boat is unhooked I fold the trailer tounge and put pin inside truck, then wrap the tounge with a cable lock. When hooked up I back up against the curb with some pressure leaving the boat almost impossible to the pull off the hitch.
