1. ? I hear ya Chop! I wouldn't dare venture out in the main lake, especially in the times you mentioned! Talk about frogger! LOL. Thanks MUCH for all the info! Plan is to start exploring come spring! Unless I get time, and some nice weather breaks, I may try some winter fishing.... Thanks much again! Happy Holidays!
2. Just moved to our new home that is 7 miles from sturgeon creek marina and I've never fished Anna before. Anyone have any pointers for a newb to lake anna fishing out of a kayak? Is sturgeon creek a good starting point? Any locations better suited for kayaks than others? Any non-public ramp combat launch spots? Obviously this is a huge lake for a kayak'r so just looking for some advice! Thanks and happy holidays!
3. Went out Tuesday evening and managed about 12 from 630pm to 830pm. Biggest was 19in, 3lb 10oz, which was my PR on this lake (and HUGE for this lake as 98% of the fish caught are 10-12in, 1lb or less). Tight lines all!!
4. Revisiting an old thread again. Been out a handful of times since last post last year (almost to the day lol). Still average dinks, 1lb or under around 10-12in. Last couple trips (last weekend and this past Tuesday night, 25 May) I've managed a few larger ones. Around 14in or so and nice and plump so they are getting bigger and healthier! Caught my personal best (out of Mooney that is) Tuesday as well....19in, 3lb 10oz! I knew they were in there and like others have said, have heard of some larger ones but never caught anything close. I almost strictly use 6in zoom lizards fishing the shoreline/laydowns. I suppose if I crack open the tackle boxes and expand a bit I'd do better, but the lizard is tried and true for me! lol. Tight lines!
5. yup that's the same spot lol. i've been to the ramp as well, same day i took the grandson to the circle at the end of west rocky run. the ramp was packed so i took my chances parking under the no parking sign! still haven't made it on this lake yet though. hoping to soon. finally got the yak out yesterday afternoon. went to Curtis for a couple hours before dark. managed 1 small bass, 1 medium turtle (I don't understand?) and missed 3 other small bass. not bad for my first time out on my yak in over a year, and how tuff Curtis historically is!
6. realize this thread is old, but anyone know of a place to launch a kayak in aquia creek? government island area? just moved back here (Fredericksburg) and dying to get on the water and find a few LMB! I have a few reservoirs right near my house (lake mooney, able reservoir, Curtis lake), but they don't seem very productive. any tips? thanks!
7. You in a boat? yak? or shoreline? where do you launch from? I found a small launch spot at the end of W Rocky Run off holly corner road, but unsure if you are allowed to launch/park there. I parked there when I took the grandson from shore and my truck was fine, but I was only there an hour or so.
8. what baits are you using? I live in Holly Corner right around the corner from Mooney. Only been once taking the grandson from the shoreline with no luck, but it looks like a good place to take the yak!
