I have a 2001 Ranger Comanche 520vx with a 2001 Mercury Optimax 225hp. It's has always ran fine. At the end of last season we noticed a gas leak. This spring I had the source of the leak, fuel pump, replaced. It has not been right since and no subsequent trips to the mechanic have figured it out. When I put it in gear and throttle up the response is slow. It takes several minutes for it to get up on plane. However, yesterday at a small derby, I figured put that if I put the throttle down and raise the jack plate all the way it will take off the way it used to I then have to lower the jack plate back down. Has anyone else ran into this that may be able to provide some insight?
