I had to replace both of my bottom bunks last weekend. I noticed they were broken near the lag bolts both front and back. They appear to have had some rot around the lage bolts area I replaced them with regular 2x4,s, treating them with spar urethane. I re carpeted and left the bottoms exposed similar to Jaime. I just re used the lag bolts as they were in good shape. Thanks for the pictures. I wanted to order the Ultimate Bunk Boards but shipping was as expensive as the actual product.
I've done most of the servicing: motor oil, lower unit, fuel filters and spark plugs, but the impeller seems a bit scary for me to do. I think it's cool you're doing it yourself. Maybe when you're done you can post some instructions with pictures.
Sounds like you got a good package. I'd love to see some pictures
I finally finished installing red LED's in the heritage. What kind you putting in yours?
I'm not very tech savvy so I'll ask my wife to help me with pictures. I hunt in the salt marshes on Rhett's Island in Darien Ga. so, yeah you're right it's important to have a rack to keep the gun dry.
I have duck hunted out of an Ascend FS 12t for about five years now. It's stable and I enjoy it. Kayaks are easy to conceal in the marsh grass. I've installed a gun rack which helps. Organization is the key to duck hunting from a Kayak. Congratulations on your hunt.
That's a good idea leaving the bottom of the bunks exposed to help drain the water faster. I think I'll do that when I have to replace my bunks. About a month ago I knocked off my side bunk when I misjudged my alignment driving the boat back onto the trailer. It snapped the bolt off. Fortunately it was an easy fix,
I was going back looking at some old posts. Bolar, I was wondering if the lights held up good. Are you pleased with them? I'm interested in adding some deck lighting.
