  1. Harvest of large individuals can be a problem if done at a large scale, but many fishermen choose to release larger fish. Laws are often ineffective due to the will of the people. Those who choose not to abide often get away. Education is a much better approach at changing a cultural practice. If you truly want it to stop, inform them about why leaving larger individuals in the system are important and encourage them to keep the smaller individuals. Again, you can't change everyone's opinion but then again laws won't either.
  2. My fishing partner keeps telling me that 7' the best rod length and a recent *** video on the subject got me thinking. If you could only have one rod length to do everything, what would it be?
  3. I'm not into it either. Chris just happened to luck out on finding an abandoned set up that was probably lost in an accident. There are lots of what ifs and what not but I know for a fact that most of my reels last longer than the rods they get put on.
  4. After months submerged in saltwater, the rod was trashed and the reel is still kicking. Further emphasizes my opinion that a quality reel will outlast a rod. If you really have to ask, I don't know how to help you. Mbirdsley, I can see what you're saying but I've never had a problem feeling bites with cheaper rods ($50-80). A bite is a bite for me.
  5. I am now 100% convinced that the reel is where more money should be spent. This tired argument can now be laid to rest in my mind. Peace and tranquility forever.
  6. Chronarch is the only option you listed ?
  7. The new Strike King rage products on TW have are much higher and I expect the older rage stuff to get the prices jacked up too. It's probably because Googan Baits who use their rage tail flanges are expensive and they realized that some suckers will pay more.
  8. The 5.5lber came on a zoom swimmer rigged on a owner beast hook. After not getting anymore bites I switched to a Slayer Inc S.S.T. rigged on a owner flashy swimmer and 6.5lber swallowed it almost to the point of getting gut hooked. I switched to the slayer because the zoom tail wouldn't kick good at the slow speed I was reeling.
  9. So this weekend I went fishing with some buddies and broke my pb largemouth twice. The first was a 5.5lber caught on a 4" hollow body swimbait and the second was a 6.5lber that I caught on a 3.5" solid body on an underspin. What is everyone else's pb on a paddletail?
  10. Personal preference. I don't like the hook bend going more than half way down the bait so I would go 2/0 if it were me.
  11. I have been told to use the same size screen at bow and console. Reasoning is that a much larger screen will display info slightly different from a smaller screen. Nitpicky but it makes sense to me.
  12. Most likely #3. I'd think that the light going out causes a feeding frenzy because the bass can no longer see the bait ball and the minnows have the opportunity to escape.
  13. Was driving north on I-75 and saw a wrapped boat headed southbound. Was hard to see with the boat cover but the title sponsor was either "Pandora" or ended in "-ora", black wrap/white lettering. Any ideas who I spotted?
  14. I have to force myself to not reinvent the wheel. I've come to realize that most of these trendy new baits and techniques are no more effective than "old school" standbys.
  15. Screw-lock swimbait hook with a blade attached by wire. Blades spin freely below the bait and it's weedless.
  16. LFG was using a rod with the googan squad logo on the butt cap in one of his vids a few months ago
  17. What about keeping the big boat and getting a small jon boat for closer or smaller bodies of water?
  18. Koz, I feel your pain and have been in the same boat. I've come to the decision that I will never live far from a coastline. I've tried living in the interior with little access for bank fisherman and I hate it. I was lucky enough to befriend someone with a boat and finally started enjoying fishing again. You honestly need to try kayak fishing or get a car topper jon boat. You can't catch fish if you can't get near them. Also, try fishing for something other than bass. There should be plenty of other fish around that you can catch.
  19. Curado K or Tatula. Shimano SVS Infinity brakes can be finicky but will absolutely launch a lure when dialed in. Daiwa Magforce Z brakes are harder to backlash and handle lighter weights better in my experience.
  20. All the fish in that pond most likely have their bellies in the mud. Doubt they'd come unglued for a dropshot which is more suited for suspended fish.
  21. Blasphemy
  22. x2. I like the inshore slam head with the 3/0 hook and screwlock
  23. Fed up with bottom bouncing jigs, can't get bites and would rather fish a worm or standalone craw.
