  1. Hey all, Looking to get a new medium light setup for weightless worms, Ned rigs, dropshotting, lighter lures, etc. Just wanted to know if anyone had any favorites, and mainly wondering if there was a preference between casting vs spinning for this type of setup. I generally prefer casting setups but wanted to hear some opinions! Looking to spend roughly $200 total for rod and reel. Thanks in advance!
  2. I've been looking to drop a decent amount of money on a baitcaster as the title entails. So far I've been looking at the 2020 Daiwa Tatula SV TWS, Lews Tournament Pro LFS, and the Shimano Curado K and Shimano Curado 70 MGL. This will mainly be for topwater, weightless plastics, and cranks on a medium rod. I've tried the Tatula and liked it but didn't care as much for the "whirring" noise it makes when casting, despite it being able to bomb lures. I've heard this is a common thing with Daiwa and didn't know if anyone had figured out how to smoothen or eliminate this casting noise as I really liked the reel otherwise. I'm also open to any suggestions for other reels from other/same brands! Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions!
  3. So I decided to dive into a more expensive rod the other day. I ended up getting a shimano expride as I had heard people raving over it, but now that I have it I can't tell if I'm missing something or if I'm just a little disappointed. I had heard many things about how sensitive and good at detecting bites it is, but I almost feel that my $40 Camo Ent-Sport E Series Camo Legend rod is much more sensitive! On the E Series I can feel every wobble from a crank bait to the point that the vibrations are almost thundering down the rod, then with my new Expride it is like a light thudding or sometimes I cant even tell if it is walking correctly... they are both MH, but the E Series almost seems more like a Moderate/Fast than a fast tip as it is much more bendy than the stiff Expride. I also noticed that I can feel jigs much better on the E Series. I wasnt sure if I maybe just have to give the Wxpride time to break in or maybe the "bendiness" of the E Series makes it seem more sensitive. Everything else on the Expride is miles better from look to feel, but the sensitivity is something I thought the Expride was known for and it almost seems a bit lacking? Please let me know if anyone has any insight in this, I havent been able to fish much with the Expride yet, but I am a little worried off the bat! Thank you in advanced for any replies!
  4. Thank you everyone for he replies! I ended up getting a Daiwa Legalis Lt and Daiwa Presso rod! Wanted to go a little cheaper, but I couldn't resist the Daiwa Products this time!
  5. I'm looking to get a decent ultralight setup after trying it out for the first time and loving it! What do you guys recommend for a good ultralight rod and reel? I don't really want to spend much over $80 for the both of them, just looking for a fun ultralight! Also I don't mind getting the rod and reel separately. I'm looking for something around the lines of a 5'6" fast action ultralight unless anyone has a better suggestion! Mainly fishing for panfish, trout, and maybe bass. Thank you for any replies in advance!
  6. I just ordered a Choppo 90, but have heard that people may have better luck with the 120... I was wondering if anyone else had any preferences or different luck with each size and or color? I may just be being overcritical, new to topwater! :)
