  1. I have been using /SC rods for almost 30 years with no issues. I will agree since covid their CS has slipped a little but no issues with their rods.
  2. Welcome Mike. I was raised in Pekin, IL just a little to your south. Moved to Rockford after college in '89 but my son works in Peoria so I get back there often.
  3. Thanks for the explanation.
  4. What is the correct name for them?
  5. I fish a lot with spinner baits and most if not all use treble hooks. As we all know treble hooks are a pain to remove from fish so can you just replace the treble with a single hook or it just easier to snip off two of the existing hooks?
  6. @NorthernBasser, Galen, keeping you in my prayers! Cancer is a B****! Best Wishes, Randy.
  7. I'm primarily a Shimano guy for spinners and BC but I do have a couple of Diawa spinners that I have been please with.
  8. I have the Mojo Bass in this configuration but not the Victory.
  9. Guys, in the market for another versatile casting rod in the <$280.00 price range. I'm most familiar with the SC Victory line but want to know how the GCX 843C MBR or the Zodias 72MHF compare to the SC Victory 71MHF and what is the best bang for the dollar.
  10. I have a specific rod and reel ( SC Mojo Bass MHF71 with a Shimano Metanium and a #4 Mepp's dressed Aglia with a silver blade and black skirt) that I have caught a lot of fish on when others weren't catching anything. I always feel lucky with this outfit. Do you guys have a lucky rig?
  11. I am buying it (especially for the price) but was wondering if the moderate action would be good the spinner baits with treble hooks. I normally use a fast action.
  12. Guys, I can pickup a LN SC Victory 72MHM casting rod for $ 80.00. I've never had a moderate action before. I've heard it's good for swimbaits such a Mepp's bucktail spinners..is this correct?
  13. I'm of the opinion that anything made in Japan is top quality. Malaysia is ok too. Not a fan of China.
  14. I bought my first Subaru in October 2021 a Forester Sport. I wanted a RAV4 but could not find a new one at that time. I have 67,000 miles on it and not a single problem. My son bought an Outback and hasn't had any issues with his either.
  15. @Ohnooze, I've caught several decent sized bass on my ML spinning rod. Actually, I use a ML spinning rod for most of my applications.
  16. @WRB, would you choose the Grunt or the Marshal?
  17. @MiceNReets and @Smirak and @r83srock, between the Grunt and the Marshal which would you choose?
  18. I was looking at the Grunt too. Just wasn't sure which was more versatile.
  19. I'm going to have a little Christmas money and was thinking of buying another casting rod. I'm torn between the SC Marshal 73mhf and the Zodias 72mhf. I'm looking for another "swiss army knife" rod. for the $$ what is your preference and why?
  20. Been using SC, Loomis and Shimano for several years now. Just bought a SC LE casting rod. I do not get the stories about all the SC rods breaking. I belong to a fishing club with over 60 members and most of the guys use SC rods. I never hear any of them complaining about rods snapping. I think this is just internet gossip.
  21. Several years ago I was at a Cabela's in WI looking at SC rods and noticed a mismarked LT spinning rod for $ 20.00 something. I thought "wow my lucky day!" I bought it, got into my car and thought "this isn't right." and I took it back. I didn't steal it but knew it wasn't right to keep it so I took it back in and returned it. I know I should have just notified someone in the fishing department initially but my devil side said "get it!"
  22. I agree with what many others have stated. Once you get above $ 300.00 it doesn't really matter what brand you like the yare all good. Best Wishes, Randy Price
  23. I bought a SC Mojo Bass 71 MHF rod earlier this year that Cabela's was clearing out for the new model thinking I would let friends borrow it. I used it this fall with a Metanium on a multi species fishing trip and caught a decent musky and 15 20-24" northern. Now I know it didn't have anything to do with the rod and reel but I'm keeping both because I think they're lucky.
