  1. I learned that color and presentation really are over half the battle when it comes to soft plastics in the dog days of summer. I also learned that it is a long, slow war to get an overpopulated bass pond where it needs to be...full of many a small fish fry...but 5 years later progress is becoming noticeable.

  3. Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread. The lake is still electric only. I kayak fished it and caught a few small ones on plastics, but nothing of note. They seemed to be on the main points and in timber, but the bite was slow. I am excited to get back out there again soon hopefully.
  4. I'm actually hoping not to tangle with any Muskie. I have little experience with those alligators.
  5. I just joined the forum today after searching for Hazel Creek Lake info and finding the majority on here. I live about 30 minutes from HCL and love to fish the bucketmouths. I will be doing my best to work some points and brush areas with a kayak tomorrow. Hopefully I can find a couple nice ones to pull my fishing yak around the lake. If anyone has any advice on the bite there this time of year it would be greatly appreciated. I hope to start fishing it pretty regularly and would be happy to give any Intel I can to any travelling from further away to fish this lake.
