  1. hey everyone, thanks for the replies. ideally if I could get a decent/good casting rod and reel setup for $250.00-$300.00 US that would be the best. the Canada/US exchange is horrible, duties and shipping anything here is awful and I try to avoid it as much as I can. 100$ US is costing me $135 Canadian now, from what I have seen the st. Croix rods for example are fairly close to the same price as US but without the exchange. I have talked with a few guys last night at the fish shop and passed on the avid x MHM as this is what they have in stock and go back to the MHF like I was looking for originally for a solid all around rod. I have found a shimano chronarch ci4+ 150 MLG for 200$ so with all that I should be around $450 Canadian that would be roughly $340 US in todays price. I know its more then my original budget but seems to be a fairly solid combo.
  2. Hey guys, I am new around here, wife saying can spend some money on fishing stuff so I'm looking to get more serious into fishing, i currently have a ugly stick Canadian tire combo. Nothing serious and I have used st croix and shimano rods from buddies and I like the feel of the st croix looking at a axc70mhm at a local place, good deal brand new for 240 no tax, is this a good rod for starting out ? What reel would you put on it. I got a buddy selling this Okuma HELIOS HS- 273Va Bait cast reel 7:3:1 gear ratio 6.3 ounces Right hand retrieve for 100$ good deal? I know these questions get asked all the time and everyone is different. But any and all help is appreciated
  3. Hey everyone been lurking around for a bit. Would like to get out a fish more and educate myself. Forum seems to be a great resource. Orginally from northern Ontario- sudbury and now living in oshawa. Cheers
