30 years old. Raised on Lake of the Woods. Fishing with dad and grandpa. Met an old guy one morning when I was practicing my Abu Garcia bait casting setup, anyways, I was raised fishing northerns and we get to chatting. Small dock talk, than he goes into his tackle box and said, "Here, tie this on." Handed me a hook with a plastic worm on it. I told him I never used those before and I don't believe they'll get anything. Well, ya know old guys, he smiles and said, just tie it on and throw it. So I did. Told me to wait a few seconds to let it sink than slowly reel. I let it sink, than I started to reel, there was tension which i thought was cabbage. All of a sudden, ZZZZZZZZ, my first ever and biggest non northern, and it was a small mouth bass. I always catch and release as I get packages of walleye from my grampa. He asked if he could have it. I replied, of course you can have it. In fact, think you introduced me to my new thing!
That moment unlocked a whole lot more.
