Lake Luzerne, it's where i grew up and it's the lake I fished primarily.  Not a monster bass lake but it will always be home.

  1. Thank you
  2. I could really use some advice on swimbaits. The lakes in my upstate NY area are usually not much deeper then 20ft, normally clearish it mildly muddy at times, wind can be an issue sometimes, millfoil/some grasses, lots of lillypads. Mainly bluegill, pumkinseed, carp, perch, baitfish. Im thinking id like to start with a few colors in both 3" and 4" keitech swimbaits mainly bluegill, sliver/black, copper, chartreuse, blue/black colors? my question is what size jig heads do i use for 3" and 4" swimbaits? I've heard 1/6 for everything to 12' but 1/4 to 20'...should I use different weights for 3" vs 4", im starting to get a headache lol thanks for your help!
  3. Motor runs very well once i figured out how too run it lol , 37 years old and my first boat, it's not fast obviously so I might skip the casting deck and just did the floor. My 5 year olds thinks it flys lol I'll look into vinyl, thanks
  4. It's done with a paint brush so you can see the strokes up close, it kind of bugs me but your right it looks fine from the shore or 45 mph down the highway lol
  5. I recently bought a 1980 starcraft 16ft deep v, i believe a seafarer. The wood inside was replaced with a 1.5" board but there is no outside wood right now. Should there be? Theres no cracks or fractures in the aluminum, would it be a good idea to add wood to the ouside? I do intend to,add a 9.9 or 15 hp. In the future. Thanks for any advice !! Anthony
  6. I just bought a 1980 starcraft 16ft deep v hull with a evinrude 4hp deluxe. Going to add a casting deck, new paint because last paint job was done with a brush, a floor in front of the rear seat and a carpeted seat in the back. Should be a fun build, I'll update with pics as I go. If anyone has experiance with this type of boat build id gladly accept advice !
  7. Thanks fellas, i think I'm going to start looking for a larger jon boat. I appreciate your time.
  8. I use a small car battery for the trolling motor, 34 thrust. Generally I don't drain it dead, it's usually on the lower end of the good area on my battery tester. I always throw it on a trickle charger before taking it out the next time. My buddy says I might be short cycling the battery and should run it dead every time. Does this apply to cranking batteries or just marine batteries? Thanks
  9. I went and looked at an 8 foot field and stream angler 8 today and it was small, i can't imagine 24 inches is going yup be a game v changer.
  10. So I've been researching small boats, a bass tracker classic is still a few years away. I've read almost everything on pelican bass raider (which for some reason I can't find in upstate NY anywhere) and sun dolphin sportsman and the field and stream angler 10. I'm 300lbs and my dad is 220 that's the weight limit of people for those boats. I understand I'm looking at 16ft jon boat for the stability and comfort. I know the specifics of the boats, i guess I'm just looking for advice or experiences from, big guys on which is the better buy,or why you v recommend one vs the other. I should also say that i can afford the pontoon style and trailer brand new but I'd have to find a used jon boat and "work" on it, a new jon boat is out of reach right now but I have the skills to do the work. Any v advice you fellas can offer is so greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi everyone, my name's Anthony, I live in upstate NY close to the Adirondacks. I recently got back into fishing when my 5 year old son became very interested in it. I grew up fishing for largemouth with my father and thats what i enjoy but I'm also venturing into crappie and walleye. I'm looking forward to taking with you folks. Thanks
