  1. Anyone got some personal advice or tips for a fairly new bass-only angler? This will be my first summer where I specifically target bass during the warm dog days at my local ponds bank fishing. I don't have a bass boat so I'm limited to the shoreline and mainly throw Texas rigged craws and Chatterbaits if it's not weed infested. Any advice on how to target those fish when they can't stand the heat? Past two weeks I've been getting results at my nearby ponds but now that the heat is really starting to kick in these fish are nowhere to be seen. I've heard about pitching shaded cover and jigs. but I would like to hear personal advice from actual anglers on how to handle the dog days. Thanks!
  2. How well does mega strike work on Dingers? Since YUM already scents them.
  3. Tell that to the Internet fishermen like the googans and others who keep hyping up scent brands. Does this scent destroy soft plastics like others? Might be something to invest in maybe??
  4. What does it do exactly? Make the bass more likely to strike because it smells like a natural prey baitfish or craw?
  5. Hey all, recently while fishing around my local lakes the question dawned on me. "Would I be catching more bass if I bought attractants?" I've seen it all and you guys probably have to. Bass attractants are the next big thing because it gives your lures a more natural taste and scent. But what I'm confused about is it really worth the money just to have a higher chance for a bass to keep a lure in it's mouth a bit longer. What do you guys think about bass attractants? Something to invest or stay away from?
  6. Yeah but I didn't feel anything on my line, usually I feel a thump with senkos. That's what made it surprising to me. First for everything! Had this happened once, was fishing a lake with a buddy of mine and left my frog in the water while we were using the trolling motor at top speed, next thing I knew My rod was halfway in the water hahahaha.
  7. I was out today at my local pond in Northern NJ and was 4 bass in using a chatterbait, I switched over to my whacky weedless setup and was pitching into some Bushes near the water line, worked it through the water until it was ready to be reeled in and repeated, 30 minutes passed and I decided to switch up things so while I was reeling my slack line I did a fake hookset out of curiosity and man next thing I knew a little dink was jumping out the water and my line was being pulled, I thought to myself? Did I really just hookset a bass that wasn't even interested in my senko? Wow hahahahaha You gotta love fishing at times! Ps I had to resize the image because it was over a few MBs on my phone. The fish had a perfect hookset too! Hahahaha
  8. Wind knots? What are those? 7 medium spinning rod Not a beginner, just never used braid before bud
  9. I have a Daiwa spinning reel I recently got on sale at Dicks Sporting goods, problem is it has no line and I alrwady have a spinning reel and rod that has mono on it. So I decided I should give braid a shot for this one, any brand suggestions? Lb test etc?
  10. It's gonna be like this all summer my fellow New Jersey anglers. Upper 90s all next week please fish at dusk or in the morning don't risk it mid-day! You'll get skunked hardcore. Yeah I was at Greenwood lake today the slop kept hooking on to my chatterbait! Caught a nice Perch though on the zman before it started raining. Try weedless baits like T rigging or whacky weedless pick up some Berkeley pit boss at walmart been killing it in green pumpkin purple
  11. Oh yeah down south in the pines that's pickerel country hahahaha color codes are basically what color of bait to throw in the water based on water clarity and what the bass can see.
  12. -Crankbaits work in the summer -Big bass want big lures -You need a 7'6 heavy for pitching -The Googan squad are the greatest thing to happen to fishing -Bass don't bite mid day -Chatterbaits don't catch perch -Senkos catch more fish than dingers -Carp don't eat crankbaits (KVD proved this one) -The southern states produce the best bass fishing -Black and blue flake is better than junebug -LTB is better than MTB -Hybrid bass don't reproduce -Smallmouth are picky -Catfish are bottom feeders only I can go on and on but I think you get my point to be honest.
  13. As a fellow New Jersey resident and bass angler I understand your frustration and have been there, our state is heating up and the bass are gonna notice it, my advice to you is try in the early morning or around 6:30 to 7 at night when the sun isn't as bright on the water. I've gone weeks with catching no fish at all to weeks where I can only get maybe one or two dinks if I'm lucky. If you are in the Bergen or Passaic Area I can point out a few spots to check out and color codes that produce bass for Me, it's hard though considering a lot of water ways in our state are pressured and the bass are picky.
  14. Topwater def Booyah frogs and soft plastics been killing it with the Havoc pitboss in Green pumpkin Purple at my community pond in Jersey
  15. This is why Kayak fishing has become so popular, because we anglers realized we don't need a 60k boat and 15 rods and reels to go around and fish bodies of water, Any average joe can pick up some plastic worms, a 20 dollar bass combo some texas rigging hooks and maybe a yak or bank fish and catch more than someone with a 60k boat and 500 dollar combos, in my opinion that's what makes this sport so awesome.
  16. That a good drive up there, how has the bite been up there? What colors do you mainly throw?
  17. Anyone see the new stuff the fishing companies are releasing for 2020? If those who don't know what ICast is. It's basically a fishing convention where all the brands come together and announce/show off new products for us anglers to buy. What are some of your thoughts on the new products that are coming out? I personally like the new deep chatterbait that Zman is releasing and some of the new KVD frogs so far.
  18. Are you in Jersey? I fish a couple lakes up north near the NY border
  19. All dinks this year. I fish a private lake in Northern NJ from time to time on a friends boat and was able to land a decent 2 lb largie but other than that most of my fish just barely miss 1 lb back when I was a multi species angler I could land some nice bass but now that I devoted my fishing to bass alone it's been tough.
  20. Confusion, better to keep it simple unless I know what works in some lakes. I have this peoblem a lot with new lakes that are in that 50/50 clear and dirty range. You might be able to see the bottom at like 2 feet but when you drop your soft plastic in open water it dissapears like right away
  21. Yeah, it's quite ridiculous how many colors these companies make
  22. Hey all, I been having this problem for awhile now when ever I fish some small lakes and ponds up here in Northern New Jersey and Eastern Pennslyvania, I fish a lot of soft plastics including Yum dingers, craws, senkos etc and for some lakes the water color can really be decieving. A few lakes here I already know the color code and know what to throw but for some lakes the water can be clear in one spot and then stained/Murky a bit in others. I almost go crazy deciding what colors to throw because of this issue, I keep it simple. Green pumpkin/watermelon for clear and Junebug/Black blue flake for stained/muddy but when the water is looking clear near the bank then murky out in open water it really causes confusion. Anyone else have this issue? Or is it me just having OCD?
  23. All I throw is KVDs 1.5 and 2.5s and maybe a deep diver if I'm fishing a bigger lake. Only around 6 bucks at my local stores Rage series always preformed better, bought a pack of the Krackin craw from googan baits they were selling them at Dicks sporting goods and After catching one dink the craw was basically destroyed worst than a senko after 1 fish. Not worth getting it snagged. But I'm still farely new to all around bass fishing so I can't really talk about snagging and losing lures.
