  1. Hey BR. Over the past month and a half during my outings if I'm lucky to catch a bass with these weird fall conditions which most of the time I am. I have caught very decent fish, 2lbs to or higher which is pretty good for the ponds I fish. Most of the summer I have fished many public park ponds which are usually very pressured and hold a good amount of bass. Most outings during that time slot many bass were either dinks or right at or slighty above the 1lb mark. Since mid September any bass I've been able to catch has been over 2lbs. Pretty much all the dinks have stopped biting and the big ones have come out to feed. Is anyone else getting quality over quantity right now? Or is it just me?
  2. Hey all. Recently here in New Jersey the fall bite has been on and off. A couple of days ago this pond I frequently fish was producing for me a little bit while using swim jigs and Neds. But we recently got heavy rain again & the pond has risen it's water back to spring time levels, does anyone know how to fish it in this situation? Especially with the fall being tough already, I went out this morning and the bite was completely off, not even a nibble. It's gonna be awhile before the water level lowers back so please help a fellow angler out. Looking foward to the responses.
  3. The chatterbait bite has slowed down heavily this time of year. I live in New Jersey and the temperatures seem to have finally stabilized, it's been a tough bite but I haven't given up yet throwing texas rigs and chatterbaits. Need to buy some spinnerbaits and TRDs for restock soon anyway.
  4. To answer your question OP here in New Jersey and Pennsylvania it is the opposite at golf ponds and lagoons, people throw carp and goldfish/other river dwellers in, they destroy ecosystems and plant life, wishy anglers would stock more bass instead of the state doing it over here/repopulating. we do have some golf courses that are absolutely loaded with bass. great fishing if you can sneak in.
  5. Catch my first topwater bass. Also trying out braid for the first time and catching a load of bass on chatterbaits. Also this year I managed to master baitcasters and jig fishing. and now have an rod/reel arsenal for my needs. My goals for the rest of the year is to catch a crankbait bast and get one on a willow blade spinner, also work on my topwater bite.
  6. This was a bass I recently caught in a pond that has been lowered for the fall and has little visibility. Almost all of the bass have this color. Some have more distinctive black stripes and tails than others. Some are just a gray with no stripe at all.
  7. I have bass in my local pond that suffer from this, this usually has something to do with pigmentation and dirty/heavily stained water. If the bass aren't getting enough light penetration they don't develop that distinct green with black stripe and black tail that most bass have. They're just light green/gray with little or no black stripe at all.
  8. Personally I prefer 3 to 5 hours at max when I'm working a bank at a pond or a lake, I feel like I can test different stuff out and see what's going on, My prefer time is usually in the morning. What about you guys? How many hours do you fish at a pond/lake?
  9. Gonna be picking up some new bullet weights for my T rigs, what size weight would be better for a slower fall rate? 3/8oz or 1/4/oz maybe 1/8oz?
  10. What do you think it is?
  11. Yeah man I don't know what's going on right now but it needs to change. Maybe the water temp is still higher than the air temp but I know this though. The fish are definitely there and they're eventually gonna get hungry...
  12. Hope so man I keep hearing about fall being one of the best times of year. So far nothing has shown that yet.
  13. Finally got a break in my hectic work schedule and managed to get some fishing today at a local lake here in NY. Was able to fish from 7 to 1 PM and I didn't get anything. Started with my frog setup and managed to get one blowup. Topwater bite shut down shortly after that. Started using a booyah chart spinnerbait with willow blades and didn't get anything after an hour. Eventually switched to a jackhammer in Shad and chart and didn't get anything either, the lake I was fishing used to be a brick field so there was lots of open water to cover, this lake holds huge bass and pickerel and I managed to get a solid 4lber there in july. After none of the moving baits worked I figured I should start throwing my confidence bait which is a GP football jig in 3/8oz around cover and didn't get anything except occasional snags and bumps into rocks. Anybody else having a hard time figuring out the fish this weekend? A couple of days ago the bite was on fire but since the temperature dropped the fish around here have been difficult to find in my past two outings.
  14. Hey all, as a Largemouth Angler I have always been interested in catching brown bass. There's a creek/river about 20 minutes away from where I live (NJ) and it holds Brown bass. Can anyone recommend anything to throw in those pools? Maybe some grubs or NED rigs? I'm new to all this so I was thinking maybe spinners? Look foward to the responses.
  15. Finally get my rod arsenal up to 5 baitcasters and upgrade my finesse rod, also start saving up for a boat so next summer I won't be limited to bank fishing.
  16. 1. Chatterbait 2. Texas rig craw 3. Weedless swimbait 4 Whopper plopper. I haven't really gotten into the crankbait game yet so these are my picks based on confidence alone.
  17. Hey all, I Plan to get into boat fishing next season and since i'm on a tight budget a buddy of mine recommended the Pelican bass raider, I just had a few questions about this little boat if anyone on here owns one. 1. Is the boat stable? Will it not capsize if i'm trying to get in it? 2. How much weight can the boat hold? I'm currently 285lb is this boat safe for that weight? 3. Can the boat hold a gas motor/fish finder electronics? Would like to fish some of my deeper lakes next summer and those would help me. Thanks and I look foward to the replies
  18. Gotta try that color out. Heard good things about them.
  19. Thanks Russ! That makes more sense, I'm just getting into braid now and there never really was a definite definition of what the length should be
  20. Hello all, Recently I had the opportunity to try out 30LB Power pro on my Baitcaster and after tying my flurocarbon leader I noticed it was longer than I had expected, when I began reeling the spool the knot and leader was reeled on the spool. Is this good to have in terms of leader length? Or should the leader be shorter to where it doesn't get reeled on the spool. I feel like if I keep it long like this it will cause issues casting, any suggestions? How long should my leaders be?
  21. What is the colors of the jig skirt?
  22. Yes, I have tried the Keitech white pearl belly I think at two different locations, nothing.
  23. I've started to get into swimbait fishing recently since fall is almost here. Problem is all I can see in stores is all these shad colors. You can see where this is going. There's no shad in my local ponds and lakes, the bass only feed heavily on Bluegill and maybe frogs. I bought a pack of keitech Black and Blue for my dirty waterbodies but I need a bluegill color for the more clearer waters. (Besides GP) Any recommendations?
  24. It's been like that since late August for me to be honest. I feel like October will be a great month for bass fishing.
  25. 50/50 growing up fishing some of the biggest bass I caught on my residental lake was with nightcrawlers and a simple red and white bobber. But I've also had to dealt with Bluegill and other species of sunfish before I could get that 2lb bass. As a Bass angler I will stick with what I know works 100% year round for my target species. Lures.
