  1. I've never had any bass caught with soft plastics inside them, I've caught bass with holes in their jaw from other fishermen catching them, most of the time you'll see a bluegill tail down their throat or they're spit out the remains of a crawdad but I have never seen a senko stuck in a bass's mouth. that must be a pond management issue, the bass simply aren't getting enough food via baitfish, I fish a very pressured pond nearby my house that I'm always getting snagged on others line and rigs but the bass are always chubby and thick. I've only caught one "thin" bass there and it was a male during the spawn.
  2. Read the update post I made.
  3. Do you fish from bank or boat? I'm guessing the obvious because of your username. They're still bass hanging around the shallow areas, don't be surprised if you get some bites, and it's still Fall, the bite probably won't slow down heavily until december.
  4. UPDATE: I went and managed to catch 2 dinks on a NED rig, there was no ice at all. Glad I went! Thanks guys for the advice!
  5. Thanks, very informative. Yeah that's what I was thinking, but the ponds I fish are only 7 feet deep at the deepest points. Everything else is 3 to 5 feet. I worry this will all be frozen.
  6. Hey BR, Here in New Jersey/Pennsylvania the air temperature has been rather odd right now, we have been getting cold nights that have gone down to 20*C and warmer days in the upper 40*C and low 50*C range. Part of me wants to hit the water and go after them with finesse tactics but I'm concerned that these colder nights have already frozen everything, My ponds I bank fish from are about 30 minutes from where I live so I haven't been able to really check what's going on with any ice forming. What should I do Bass Resource? Take a trip and see what's going on at my spots or wait until the weather is a bit warmer for a longer period?
  7. Oh man, this is gonna be a long winter, here in NJ we have the temps reaching down into the 20s and 10s this upcoming week, all my spots are already frozen, honestly though A-jay I would start Fishing moving current, anyway you can fish some streams for trout or other panfish species if that's up your alley? I plan on going for some native brookies this weekend at a local river. Good fighters on ultralight gear.
  8. I am too a (Born again) angler! got back into this sport last April and I have been having a blast! start slow my man! A great beginner bait is a Green Pumpkin senko with a texas rig, Fish it slow and drag across the bottom! watch that line! And always make sure to set the hook upwards with Texas rigs!! Here's a link on here that might help you! And a video by a great youtuber called Realistic Fishing on how to fish the texas rig!
  9. Not gonna lie A-jay if you're reading this you got me hooked into smallmouth fishing caught a solid 2lb at my local river last month love the videos of you in the Pro V bass hunting those brown beauties on Lake Menderchuck I don't really watch any of the other Googans but LFG I have been subscribed to for years wish he did more educational videos nowadays glad he was able to win his battle with that brain tumor a year or two ago, he's a really great guy!
  10. You have your opinion on it and I have mine, but if I'm getting someone into our wonderful sport I want them to learn how to chase bass like the googans do. Not just watch people catch them and not know how too.
  11. You're wrong and here's why. The googan squad give a very unrealistic view of fishing towards the young bucks (beginners) out there. Realistic Fishing did a video about this topic, if you're a beginner and watch the googan squad or other "hype bro fishing channels" (You know the one's I'm talking about, hip hop beats and cinematic editing) you're going to be a bit confused and annoyed that you went fishing at your local pond and weren't catching fish on every cast like the googans did on private farm ponds and lakes on 90,000$ boats. Those channels are great for people like us who know what we're doing and they provide entertainment, but they do not provide knowledge. (Something beginners need). Please watch educational videos if you're a beginner. You're gonna need to know how to tie a texas rig or cast a baitcaster if you want to have a chance at catching any bass like these guys on the googan channels do.
  12. For starters Bassresource has a great YouTube channel that I have learned a lot from this year. My personal channels are Realistic Fishing, Debo's Fishing, Tacklejunky81, Alex Rudd fishing, NDyakangler. If you're a beginner please stay away from those Googan squad guys. They don't provide any knowledge, only entertainment and overpriced baits.
  13. How would weightless senkos work on the Aird?
  14. What would be a good size for these spinning reels? 2500 or 3000?
  15. I would buy the president but I already have the baitcaster for my texas rig and jig setup, Definitely gonna check out the rods though! thanks for the feedback man!
  16. Green pumpkin purple. I have a couple in 3/8oz, great stained water color. Try using upside down paddletails or buy some Yamamoto zakos, Here's the link: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Yamamoto_4_Zako_Swimbait/descpage-GYZSB.html
  17. When I first get on the lake/pond I usually have knowledge that there's A. Bass in it and B. Fishing reports on the lake to study from. First things first is cover water. Then slow down if things aren't picking up. I'm a bank fisherman at the moment so I don't have access to 1000$ electronics and a ranger boat. So I'm looking for structure via shore, I never cast into the middle of the water because I never catch fish out there, always fan cast on my left and right shore lines. It gets the job done.
  18. That finesse combo was a rare time occurrence, I have never broken any tackle unless it was really cheap. Last thing I ever broke fishing wise was an old zebco when I was 11. Both finesse components were bought in walmart by the way.
  19. Another guy I know mentioned KK. Sucks they don't have them listed on TW. I really like some of their baitcaster models.
  20. Straight to the point, I like that. Interesting setup. To be honest I only plan on really throwing NEDs. Wacky rigs and occasionally smaller hard baits like micro chatterbaits and micro jerkbaits. Would this combo be able to handle all that?
  21. Early April Fools? What is your arguments to stop using the NED? Snag a lot?
  22. Hey BR, This Christmas one of the items on my shopping list is a new finesse combo, this past September my Shakesphere 7'0 of many years finally snapped via a hookset. (fish swam under a laydown before setting the hook) I am now on the market for a new finesse rod and reel, (anti reverse broke on the reel two weeks ago) Any of you guys have any recommendations for an all around finesse rod and reel, I mainly fished traditional lighter lures like NEDs and smaller jigs/hardbaits. Look forward to the replies!
  23. There looks like some deep spots like ledges, I would try that creek channel in the middle left, maybe some cranks to cover water then slow down with maybe a finesse jig or ned rig.
  24. love the Indiana blades, definitely worth the buy man!
