  1. Why orange? Seems like an interesting choice, I heard other anglers recommend that aswell. I use alabama craw which is sorta close to orange. Yeah a lot of lakes here in jersey are like that. The lake I fished this weekend was tannic and had a distinctive brown hue to the water.
  2. What type of jigs patterns are you throwing in tannic (tea) water? Not to be confused with stained water since tannic is usually clear but just tea color. Asking because i'm fishing a new lake soon with similar conditions from tannic acid from leaves in the water.
  3. People constantly leave water bottles, eagle claw hook packages and one guy the other day even left a big cigar/Marijuana blunt on the pier I took a picture of it lol. There's a walmart nearby this pond so I figure a lot of people drive by the lake, go to walmart and decide to be an angler for the day, one guy even left a whole Shakespeare combo and a tackle box one time last year.
  4. I love the fall because all the teenagers and kids dissapear from my ponds/lakes I bank fish from. Extremely annoying to deal with in the warmer months. Never can get a pond to myself lol.
  5. Mid April to mid June, then mid September to mid October. Best times of year IMO
  6. Yeah I lose all hope if I have to fish right after a front. Sometimes it would happen mid session, i'd start fishing with a nice breeze and puffy clouds. Then the dark ones roll in and it pours followed by cloudy calm conditions that turns it all off. Sucks
  7. Never had a quality issue with war eagle, but after a bunch of fish the wire will get loose near the lead and hook. Usually by that point though the skirt is also done. Once I switched over to megabass I only throw now the war eagle finesse spinnerbaits and maybe a double willow by them. But I love the megabass SV-3 these days.
  8. I wear the IKE renagade series in blue, they're 20 bucks but I feel like they're a steal and should be 50, designed and made pretty good. IMO
  9. I live in Northern NJ so I have my fair share of fishing ponds similar to what your talking about OP. Try to throw things that nobody else is throwing, at one pond I fish everyone throws wacky rigs and in line spinners so you know what I do? Throw ned rigs and texas rigged plastics instead, fishing these type of ponds can make you a better angler in the long run because you learn how to get on bite patterns and grind it out to achieve said patterns. I find it very rewarding when I have a good day of pond fishing and everyone around me isn't because it means I'm doing something different and it's working, if you have any questions about urban pond fishing dm me on here, i'll be happy to provide tips for your situation OP. ?
  10. I made an attempt at night fishing last night and got skunked 2 hours in, would've stayed out later but it got pretty windy and drizzly which made it tough for me. Had chatterbaits black jigs and buzzbaits, plenty of pickerel swiping but no bass still getting used to night fishing.
  11. We had storms roll in yesterday evening and it totally killed the bite today, during the morning we had blue skies and thin clouds plus wind made it pretty miserable, usually the fish start to return to "normal" feeding patterns a day or two after i'd give it 48 hours.
  12. For any garmin echomap users what should the tvg and interference settings should be for all modes? Clear view 2d etc, I mostly fish in water less than 15 to 10 feet.
  13. I can usually get my jigs out of the submerged stumps up here but that's only because the stump field on my lake is only 5ft lol.
  14. After heavy use when do you guys usually toss out your jigs and replace them? This one war eagle jig I've used for awhile has seen probably close to 50 fish already and the pait is all chipped and the skirt is beginning to break plus the hook is dulling out, what about you guys? When do you start to replace your jigs? Or do you try to save them by replacing skirts and sharpening hooks?
  15. Another good video as always Glenn, please keep them coming, it's always nice getting your input on techniques and seasonal pattern videos. Your springtime jig video was awesome and I learned a few things I had not known.
  16. Trying to work the bank can be a nightmare with the wind hitting the front for guys like me with little bass raider boats/kayaks, I usually try to position myself to where the wind/breeze slowly takes me along the bank with the motor at 10 speed setting or less if I'm trying to pitch and flip docks, if the wind gets above 15mph I'm usually going for a reaction bite at that point, ideal wind for me is 7 to 10mph even with a rudder it can be difficult to move into the wind and try to fish, I've lost multiple fish trying to keep my boat straight with one hand on the endura max and the other on a rod, I have my trolling motor in the rear maybe I should get another rudder for the front? I do prefer fishing into the wind for reaction bites.
  17. I fished yesterday on my local lake in Northern NJ and it was identical conditions, on vacation at my lake house I got skunked in the morning session and then went back out in the later afternoon and caught a few small ones on the ned rig. It was definitely post front yesterday and the heat didn't make matters any better, I fished briefly on the 4th when the storms were scattered and it was pretty good, lost a nice on a jig though that still ticks me off hahahaha
  18. Sv-3 is a great spinnerbait. Personally I feel like there's no need to change out the blades since anything megabass makes is usually good quality, but some other good colors you should try are white python and hot tiger. Great for almost any water clarity!
  19. Oh yeah, I love throwing the zoom ole monster up here in New Jersey when it's hot out, you'll even catch dinks on it, xzone lures makes an 11inch ribbontail called the blitz worm which is also really good.
  20. At least you didn't let her go to waste, personally I would've had her mounted.
  21. Flukemaster, I was always under the impression he was to never be mentioned on this site ever again lol, but all seriousness I always wondered what happened with him and here. Just curious about it since it all happened long before my time and I still watch his old videos every now and then when he said he was with bassresource.
  22. Won a local derb this weekend and was an ounce short of lunker, fish was only 3.6lbs but that's probably because of it being spawned out I've now won 1st in this specific event 8 times since 2009 which is crazy lol. also here are some other catches from the past two weeks including some smallies and largemouth and a bonus crappie which is my new PB.
  23. Yeah it was the biggest of three fish, the rest were caught on chatterbaits below a lb which were caught over a former weed bed. Guess the fish can still be found in their old spots for now.
  24. My home lake has the exact same color you're talking about, it's actually tannic from all the leaves but I try to use green pumpkin bladed jigs when it's sunny and maybe black and blue or chartreuse for when it's overcast, here is a picture of a white megabass SV-3 I was testing recently and you can see the tannic acid in the water
  25. I have a thread on this but it's for more greenish tinted stained water, but usually if it's not green and just slighty stained I try to fish naturals like green pumpkins and browns when it's sunny and throw blacks and blues colored soft plastics when in lowlight conditions.
